Forums - Gaming Discussion - Do you adapt to changes in the gaming industry?

Some people couldn't jump on the 3D bandwagon they just play 2D games (yea these people exist), granted for them they still make 2D games.

Some don't understand how to use the controllers since the first Playstation as the NES had 4 buttons but now controllers have more than 10 buttons plus 2 analog sticks (my father stopped there as he had a hard time following, especially with the dual analog sticks).

This generation is the worst. It brought motion gaming and as we all witness it's not everyone's cup of tea. Also japanese games are not dominant anymore like they used to and the biggest change of all will be the cloud gaming where no console will be required but only a subscription to some channel like OnLive.

A lot of people hate it when things change, especially when things change too drasticaly. The gaming industry is constantly evolving and console manufacturers constantly rethink how we should play games. Do you adapt to these changes or do you resist until you don't have a choice anymore or just give up?

Personnaly I don't care much how I play or how I get the games as long as I have fun.

Adapting without out research is bad, especially when it doesn't benefit you.

For Xxample: Recently I believe it was Pacther that said Nintendo and Japan in general are behind in DLC.

What Xxactly are they behind in? Ripping you off? Selling half assed games for 60 then having you purchase that last half for a Xxtra 20 bucks?

The Industry would try to have you believe that DLC is future, in atemp to lure you in the to a mindset that its ok to tolerant alot of the garbage tactics...especially from this Gen. This Gen has brought in The worst Values ever seen.

No, I can't adapt to gaming. Sure I love the online play and the pretty graphics, but I would much rather be back in the late 90's with the PS1 and the Dreamcast.

I can adapt to SOME things, the Wii controller was one of them, but if something isn't BETTER, then I won't adapt to it.

generational changes will always happen and old people would not adapt as they don't like change

i can adopt to changes as i'm am mad behind tech so i like to test them

but i do like that some of the core things remain same which i grew up learning

for example: if they change the PLAYSTATION controller with PS4,i would not like it just not for the fact that i will have to learn but i have some memories with DS1,DS2,DS3 but can adapt

don't like it though

Change is what keeps this industry fresh, i say. While there's usually a few transitional hiccups, things usually just get more interesting

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Tough one really, as i have adapted as i have gone a long as someone has mentioned earlier, i will adapt for better reasons, such as the controllers from each ps console, controls have gone more complex, and online gaming.

Things I will not adapt to are- complete overhauls of games, you cannot build up a fan base with a certain game and change it's genre completley to fit a trend ( Resident evil for example and final fantasy for example) to brilliant franchises ruined this generation/ end of last gen

Dlc for greedy developers, certain dlc's are worth the buy, rockstar are good with this, undead nightmare and the GTA addons where perfect examples of good DLC, resident evil 5's Dlc which was already on the disc (that you have already paid for) is not on people should not adapt to that sort of behaviour, your being robbed blind!

motion controls are ok as a gimmick, but as a hard core gamer i will be happy if the controller stays The main focus of games

We as customers shouldn't have to change. The industry is here to get our business. If they make something unsatisfactory, they don't get my business, simple as that. I know what types of games I like and which I don't, and that's never going to change. And the amount of games being released that appeal to me seems to be skrinking each year.

I adopt, but I will also look back and never forget the past

Nope why should I?

I pay to receive entertainment - if they want my money they need to offer product I want.

exactly right. This gen has bought so many half assed games with such low value at full RRP price. There is an common occurrence of 4-8 hour games with an multiplayer tacted on and call it an day. but the worst is the DLC abuse and update abuse. First off, its Not okay to release a broken game and just promise that one day you will fix it. Sure all games will have bugs but major issues and bugs with high chances of occurrence shouldn't be there. An then there is DLC, while at the time it was awesome that call of duty world at war released a map pack with a new zombie map, alot of effort post launch was done for that. It seems off its huge sucess that DLC map packs are now must have and that publishers are getting developers to make content during production stage for DLC!. This shouldn't happen, DLC is post release support, post in that it was developed post as well, not getting your game together then going this section of the game is going to be DLC and reduce content. the worst thing to happen this gen.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong
