Forums - Gaming Discussion - What is the hardest fighting game out there?

Which fighting game is the hardest to learn and be a pro at that you have played?

So far I would have to say Marvel vs Capcom 2, though I haven't played BlazeBlue or Guilt Gear and I hear those games are pretty hardcore.

Playstation All-Stars is one of the best games I've played this gen, and is the most fun I've had in a game this gen.

Virtua Fighter is the most technical fighter.. hard to learn to be really good at it..
And any SNK fighter before 1996 are the hardest in diffculty.. especially the bosses..

Virtua Fighter series, Marvel vs. Capcom series.

I've never found Marvel vs. Capcom 2 to be that terribly difficult.

Street Fighter Alpha 2 , I think, is a lot harder. Same with Street Fighter 3. Heck, most of the Street Fighter series is more difficult IMO.

Don't even look at Soul Calibur or Tekken if you're looking for super difficult. They're fun, but not the hardest.

Virtua Fighter is technical, but I never had much difficulty with it. At least, not as long as you have good hardware for it. If you're on the 360 and you get dizzied, you're probably not going to be able to recover properly unless you have the right controller. And that can make it a LOT harder.

Meanwhile, I'm getting ready to jump into a huge marathon of fighting games. I own 56. I'm planning to play every single one as soon as I get my fight stick for my 360 (I already have quality methods of playing fighting games on my other systems, 360's the last one and I have a Hori fighting stick on the way). I'll probably give you a bit of feedback after my marathon.

Yep........ Virtua Fighter is defo one of the hardest and most technical fighters out there.

As you progress through the stages the A.I. opponents get much tougher too. (and if you reach Dural you are in for one hell of a fight)

Imho it's Street Fighter and Tekken.

Street Fighter -> Execution of moves + combos difficulty rating (10/10)
Tekken -> Execution of moves + combos difficulty rating (7/10 for some fighters, 4/10 for some)

Street Fighter -> Mindgames (7/10)
Tekken -> Mindgames (10/10)

Imho Street Fighter is easy to get into, but hard to master.
Tekken is slightly not so easy to get into, but if you pick the easy to use characters it's easy to be proficient at the game.

In terms of combo, IMO Street Fighter is very hard. However, I honestly never found MvsC2 too hard to get into to.

Off the top of my head I would have to say 'BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger' but I haven't played 'Continuum Shift' yet.

I'm a bit surprised people are say Virtua Fighter. I guess i should try the Virtua fighters I have again....

VF is very tough... and I also find playing Street Fighter without an arcade stick very tough, Individual moves aren't all that tough to pull off, but comboing just gets the best of me.
