Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The SUN backs up 3DS health claims with Docor. Somedy ensues!

I get sick playing ANY handheld whilst in a moving car. Or reading a book for that matter. ZOMG books are bad!

Around the Network

typical tabloid crap.  On a daily basis I read the Independant, the Guardian and the Financial Times, all which are far far more informative and respectable that the Sun has ever been.  I work at my local Homebase 8 hours a week and even if I am really early, I would never open a copy of the Sun (the only newspaper in the staff room).

Well, I do guess that it isn't as bad as the Daily Mail

This is why I hate the Sun.

They use anything, exaggurate it and act all clever. Many times it comes back to haunt them (remember that pediatrician fiasco a few years back?)

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I was playing Ridge Racer in the Car a few days ago. It was the tripy-est shit ever !!!  It definitly got my addreneline pumping.

My brain was freeking out it was so awsome.

The 3DS is probly as bad for your health then straping yourself into a roller coaster and going on for a ride.

If your body can't take that.. Don't get the 3DS.

What the Sun failed to test is, If after a few days you get use to it.

I know at first i had a hard time with it. But now, I dont notice it anymore.

I think my brain got use to it and its not straining it anymore.

The Sun didn't come to any conclusion that Nintendo hasn't already warned people about in the first place.

 "Don't play in 3D for very long periods of time"

 When you've been playing the 3DS in 3D for about an hour, turn it off and continue playing. It's as simple as that. It's understandable, though, that people who can't see 3D or get headaches very quickly with it wouldn't want to pay $250 for the system. The system itself isn't useless without using the 3D (It's obviously the best Nintendo handheld device even without it), but people are paying extra money for the 3D effect, so it's fair for them to wait for a price cut if they don't care about the 3D for whatever reason.

 However, people who complain about the headaches should seriously not forget about the SLIDER. I realize some people may still get headaches, even when it's set to a lower or more comfortable setting, but there are a lot of people that I've talked to who were getting headaches because they had the 3D on max, and once they used the slider to tone it down a bit, they stopped getting them completely and could still see the 3D effect very very well. The entire reason the slider is there is for these very same people who are complaining, and yet many of them aren't using it properly. I can guarantee that at least 50% of these people you've heard complaining would stop getting headaches if they used the slider to find their comfort level.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

Stories like this give me plenty of chance to separate the logical, reasonable people from the people to ignore. Normally when a conservative media outlet goes on a 'games are bad for you' spiel (which is what this is, if you haven't quite grasped this), then the majority of people see it for what it is and criticise it. Then there are those who will base their reaction on what it is specifically aimed at.

I don't know who it reflects worse on... Me for expecting people to cut the console warrior bullshit and stand up against sensationalist journalism or the people who are acting like that out of glee because a company they don't like is getting shit thrown at them.

Ah well.

In my experience, all the people who are speaking badly of the 3DS are hardcore Sony fans lying about it in an attempt to damage the brand, so that the Sony NGP has a shot at doing a little better.

False, the NGP doesnt need to ride the coat tails of system that was obviously released too early

Well, now we know that it is indeed true. The headaches, nausia, and health BS was just as we said it was - complete BS.

I love looking at old threads like this - remember guys, don't say anything too drastic, or you might regret it later. :)

~~~~ Mario Kart 8 drove far past my expectations! Never again will I doubt the wheels of a Monster Franchise! :0 ~~~~
Wow, wasn't expecting the thread to be this old.
I have to admit though, when I played it I did not like the 3D effect at all, neither did my sister, neither did my friend, neither did our parents.
