So, what's the difference between this and the other hundred shooters out there?

Simple, it plays nothing like them.

That's pretty specific, thanks for the info.

It's a tactical, squad-based shooter. It requires you to lead teams in different directions and depends on a specific play style. If you really need to know, it takes two seconds to YouTube it and watch footage.

It's not anyone's job to spoon feed something simple to you.

I think you're confusing this with SOCOM's 1-3 :) --> Those games were acutally about stealth, tactics and controlling a team. This game looks like an average shooter that's made to be accessible to everyone which is proven by the inclusion of move controls. Its time for people to admit SOCOM sucks now and has gone casual, which is sad because SOCOM 2 was about as hardcore as a game got and I loved it.

Watch the video I posted, nothing but stealth gameplay. Besides, how can you say a game sucks without playing it?

Because it's Chairman....

Socom is still Socom, but we learned something, having Move controls means casual... guess that Guerilla made KZ3 casual with their Move controls.... No seriously what kind of reasoning is that. Socom will still be Socom because Zipper is still Zipper, but you will never know that Socom hasn't changed that much, because I guess you're not going to buy it, and you were not planning on buying it no matter what.

OT: Arrhhh Socom, so many good memories, Fucken Day 1 purchase.

I was as big of a SOCOM fan as anyone back in the SOCOM 2 and 3 days and so far from what I've seen SOCOM 4 looks way different. Even ignoring the fact its no longer a US Navy SEAL team just look at the difference in environments from previous games to this one, its all urban in this one which isn't a lot of fun. And yeah move does make it somewhat casual as well. I guess just after waiting so long for another good SOCOM game (last good one was SOCOM 3) I have too high of expectations.

I don't know why people are still even calling this game socom us navy seals. I really don't fucking understand.

>He doesn't know about classic mode

Classic mode still isn't classic enough, where's my fucking lean and grenade arch? It's one thing to change SOME stuff of the last game but to completely change everything except the third person aspect it's not the same game anymore. This is a byoproduct of this dumbed down cod-clown generation. 2 primarys?

Edit. Doesn't mean the game will be bad or anything. It's just not socom.

Where did you hear that? All Ive heard is that it has the classic gameplay of SOCOM.

Last good Socom was Socom 2, that didn't stop me from enjoying S3, but it was miles away from S1/S2 quality. Nonetheless I trust Zipper because it's their franchise, they made it and it's still in their hands.

I wouldn't expect a Nintendo fan to understand.

just kidding, I love Nintendo too.

I think the main reason I like socom over other shooters is the level design. The levels are designed perfectly IMO.

A lot of you harcore guys are saying that the gameplay sucks and what not. I disagree. Small things like lean and peak will not dramaticly change the gameplay experience. I feel that level design is more important than things like that.

The only SOCOM games I've played were on the PSP, and those games used a lock-on target system and I had a blast with that. There were no lean and peak and shit like that. I'm pretty sure I'll love SOCOM 4.

Just my Opinion.

Not always.

Change can be good sometimes. We should wait and find out if that is the case considering no one has played it yet.

I've yet to see any stealth (although I'll try and watch the whole video you posted)

It would make sense to watch that vid, as like I said, it's entirely stealth-based.

I sure hope so! And its not just the stealth/tactics I loved about SOCOM its also just the small things that make it more realistic than something like Call of Duty, things like how you have a certain number of magazines for your gun and they don't just magically refill themselves when you reload i.e. if you reload with 4 bullets left on the clip you are stuck with a magazine with just 4 bullets in it, its doesn't magically refill to 30 rounds.

I'm sure Zipper won't take those sorts of details out, its just the entire game experience I'm still worried about.

see you have to play a SOCOM with lean and peak to know how much it helped to define the gameplay experience,

now unlike most other true SOCOM fans I'm not gonna completely dismiss this game as yet another fanchise screwing it's core for casuals until I actuallyplay it. But I gotta say, from what I've seen so far, not looking to good, I haven't seen anything that makes this a SOCOM game other than 3rd person and the title. but as I said, I'll have to play it first.

Listening to any of Zipper's recent vids rewards SOCOM fans with an interesting tidbit - they will not be disappointed in the gameplay. My guess is that it will definitely feel like a SOCOM title.

Lol Zipper doesn't care about the fanbase that made socom popular in the first place. They don't listen to their forums or really anybody. Noones ever asked for removing grenade arch, regenerating health, matchmaking, dual primarys, NO DEMOLITION MODE WTF, 16v16 battles, a cover system, no pistols, push to talk, NATO team and Girl special forces, no lean? It should be called MAG third person.
EDIT. Theres so many things that they changed i can't even remember them all. Taunts are gone, so are thermal scopes, and an over-the-shoulder view.
