Forums - Nintendo Discussion - It's time for Nintendo to go 3rd party. Who gets what?

@OP: Those that always say that HW doesn't matter should approve. Enthusiastically.

This wouldn't work out right at all because everyone on VGChartz knows that everyone hates Nintendo.

Nearly all of the hate directed towards Nintendo could be nullified by Nintendo going third party. The appreciation of Nintendo software would rise to unheard of levels, especially in the Sony camp as they would get more of the games.

Sony fans would most definitely love it if they could put Mario or Zelda in their seemingly endless internetz list wars.

@OP

Nintendo have sold 85Million Wii's making a profit on each console sold. Also consider that they make a profit on each Nunchuk, Wiimote, Mario Wheel, WM etc.

Nintendo have sold 145Million DS's making a profit on each DS sold

Now lets have a quick look at the top 4 selling franchises of THIS generation on all consoles:

1. Mario - 105.78 million (17 games)

2. "Wii Series" - 102.47 million (6 games)

3. Pokemon - 42.92 million (11 games)

4. Brain age - 31.91 million (2 games)

The above is my argument and I will not elaborate it seeing as other people have already torn you to shreds.

My conclusion is that you either smoke crack or you don't know anything about videogames. Well, you could also just be looking for reaction from people.

In any case, get real - Nintendo are in the best position now they've ever been in.

Very well written and well analysed post Pyro as Bill. But if I may balance out your OP, I'd like to give my two cents on the future of some of the other lesser Nintendo franchises, and where they should go.

I believe Star Fox should head to the X360. that system has been getting its share of shmup's and while I am aware that Star Fox is not entirely comparable to the likes of Deathsmiles and Mushihemesama, I believe the microsoft camp may appreciate what the franchise has to offer. Then again, I'm not quite sure how receptive X360 owners are of furries.

I believe Kirby also has a future on the X360. The console has a distinct lack of platformers with traditional values while the PS3 gets Littlebigplanet and Mario, and Kirby can build a fanbase there. There may even be a bit of rivalry between the PS3 Mario fans and the X360 Kirby boys. Much like the good old Halo vs Killzone arguments.

F-Zero should also head to the X360 to combat the Wipeout games on the Playstation platforms. I feel the franchise will also benefit not only the HD visuals, but also the strong online support the console has to offer. 30 player online races anyone?

I think it's only fair that Mario sports titles go multiplatform. Same goes for Super Smash Bros.

Would you say this is fair?

Bahaha. You actually agree?

Just for the record, I never said Nintendo has to solely go 3rd party.

They can still make consoles and first party games if they want, I just think they should let other consoles have some killer software too.

If this was the case they would have gone 3rd party in the n64 or GC era when HW sales were too low compared to it's competitors now in the 7th gen, with their home console surpassing 86M and heading towards 90M and their competitors below 60M at this time I think they've done themselfs proud.

You're banned from my threads ever since you doubted Donkey Kong Country Returns sales. The same goes for anyone else who doubted DK would beat Gran Whatsitsname in the US.

Nintendo haters aren't allowed in here, ok Carl?

Then what about the system that is the most in need of killer software, Sony's handheld? If I am understanding you correctly, you are proposing the idea that Nintendo should spread the love. So we have the 3DS and NGP, both getting Nintendo software and Nintendo maximizes their profits with this strategy. Who gets what though? But maybe this should be a separate topic.

Nintendo announcing all of the games in the OP as exclusives for the CGP's (Current Gen Portable, 3DS is out now) launch window would be a good idea imo. The trick is not to say exactly what is getting released until other 3rd parties have been scared off by the thought of going up against Nintendo's IPs.

Imagine selling a system seller on the competition, making them bleed money since they are selling the device on a loss, and afterwards making the definite version on your own console.

I really, really don't know anymore. I think he was serious and other people are now stringing him along

Unsure if he knows that though.

I just don't see why the Wii is in trouble. Ah well, it's at least an interesting take on the situation as opposed to the completely incorrect 'Wii is d00med!' thread #129743.35 that we're so used to seeing...

I think it's fairly obvious that he's joking. Just take a look where the first two links lead in this post.

The humor admittedly went over my head too.
