FF7 eats OOT for breakfast, without salt. (but I hate salt in my food anyway...well beyond the amount already put in...blame Xen for this)

So FF7.

But like Mr T-tar said. Wind Waker and FF6 are better in the respective franchises!

lololololol!

IX > VI! Big ugly clown Queen > Clown.

I agree, but really? Who puts salt on breakfast? Maddening stuff

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

FFVII. The first FF I played. Quite easily the best FF game in history. I haven't played OoT ... I haven't actually played any Zelda game. You can't blame me, we all make mistakes.

Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Slaughterhouse Is The Sh*t  .... NOW ........ B_E_L_I_E_V_E

OoT

I enjoyed that game, but other Zelda's are better...

As for FF7? I think it gets far too much credit than is deserved. I went back and tried to play it again about 5 months ago, and I just found it impossible to even get off the first disk. There's been FAR better RPG's than FF7, but there hasn't really been any better Action-Adventure games since OoT. Therefore OoT wins.

Name some RPG's you think are far better than FFVII. I, too, think there are better JRPG's than FFVII. But when it comes to linear story based RPG's, I think FFVII does it best. I'll always prefer JRPG's like DRagon Quest and the earlier FF's rather than the Kingdom Hearts/FFVII/FFX type.

Well, you've already named some. Here's some more:

  • Chrono Trigger
  • Dragon Quest (most the series)
  • FFXII,X, VI, IV, III
  • Xenogears, Xenoblade
  • Tales of Symphonia

That's probably most of them. Like you say, it does a great job, but in the era of the PS2, there were just many better RPG's, sadly, many I didn't get a chance to play. FF7 sits right in the middle. Some are better, some are worse. But there's no denying it's a good game, but it isn't the 'best' like so many seem to claim...

EDIT**

Damn, forgot Kingdom Hearts 2!

You forgot yo mention

  • FFV, FFVIII, FFIX
  • GENSO SUIKODEN III, GENSO SUIKODEN V
  • Tales of the Abyss
  • Grandia
  • XENOSAGA series
  • Dark Cloud
  • Dark Chronicle
  • Rogue Galaxy
  • Persona series
  • PSI, PSII, PSIV

and meany more.

I apologise, I only put down the ones I've played and the ones I think are better

@Xen/Riot, yes, it's my opinion. If it wasn't, then there wouldn't be this thread at al would there

Go back and play FF7 now, and then see if it's still as good as you remember it...

there's nothing to apologies for. I just had to add some more awesomeness to that list^_^

That's quite alright, if all those games were on one console...

Well awesome RPGs are awesome no mater what the Console.

Japanese Pop Culture Otaku

Since the thread limits it to these 2 games as being the best ever, OOT over Final Fantasy 7 any day. There isn't even a discussion IMO. One game had great graphics for the time and fast paced gameplay, the other one had turned based random encounter shit with hideous ass graphics and terrible controls.

It's hard for me to say; each game did different things, both of which I really liked. While not my favorite games of all time, they both get a tie from me in my top 10.

I simply don't want to put one above the other. :)

The BuShA owns all!

I haven't even played FFVII, but as OoT is one of my favourite games ever (second to Majora's Mask), it will be Ocarina of Time.
