All they said was they ran out of 360's, doesn't mean 360 isn't above Wii. Based on Nintendo's report Wii did about 2.3M in December.

Woah! 360 could potentially be above the Wii?! |
I doubt it but we shall see young Jedi. Realistically I think that the 360 faced waayyy too many stock shortages to unseat da champ. The highly sought 4gig kinect bundle was out of stock for basically all of december for all of the major online suppliers. Big Willy must be bashing his oversized melon on a few desks I bet.
Lets be honest...lost opportunity can be a crushing factor when you see all the trickle down effects, the worst of which is basically encouraging your customers to frantically buy a competitors product so that they don't look like a chump for their snivel nosed, shovel faced kids on Dec 25. One kid speaks to 20 kids, 20 kids want to compete/fit in so they are driven to demand like products. Not to mention the obvious losses in the attaches but personally I see word of mouth being deadly to products.
Doesn't happen all the time but I've certainly seen it in play for my snivel nosed (thankfully they're not shovel faced like my in laws) kids. Personally I make sure my major hardware purchases are done well before the end of November so i'm not caught holding my johnson instead of the console my kids want. Don't personally see the draw of waiting. What you might save...$50? $50 isn't worth driving across town for me let alone driving and lining up at walmart to risk a life ending stampede. Then you risk missing getting something and do what..."Oh look Jimmy...you can build your own Nintendo WII or 360 or PS3 with this nice 2000 piece lego set I got you instead of actually PLAYING lego on the console"
Now that I think about it, you parents out there who didn't get consoles or the right console because you waited...SHOULD BE ASHAMED!
Remember VGC people: Friends don't let friends buy the wrong console.

You know that isn't true so why are you saying it?
Wii did 2.3 - 3.3 in Dec.

I expect 3.8m-4.1m (yes, Nintendo seriously said over 7m despite being at nearly 9m for the year, :P) for Wii, 1.7m-2.1m for 360 and 800k-1.1m for PS3.
The most realistic expectation with the data we have (not counting VGC) would be 2.8m for Wii, 2.2m (shortages) for 360 and 1.2m for PS3, but that's too easy.

I believe Ps3 is spot on at 1200K while X360 is overtracked by 300K (NPD will 2300K) and Wii is overtracked by 500K (NPD Wii is 2700K)

That would make Wii overtracked by 460,000 rather than 500,000.
