well 2011 is going to be an crazy year, so everyone take out an loan and set it aside because 2011 has so many games and many more haven't been announced yet with more to come at the VGA.
Developing New IP's take around 3 years to make (well the good ones) and alot of developers would of started these in 2007. but now 3 years later we have an whole bunch of these new IP's or long developed sequels being released along side the yearly franchises and the normal 1-2 year sequels. By just the look of it 2011 is going to be the Biggest year in this Gen for the amount of games.
We have an tonne of new IP's i cant even name them all such as Home front, bullet storm, La Nior etc
Then we have long awaited sequels such as Portal 2, Cysis 2, Gears of War 3, Socom 4, etc
then we have the Sequels such as LBP2, Dead Space 2, killzone 3 etc
and then on top we have the yearly sequels such as Call of Duty, Assassins Creed, NBA 2K, Madden, Fifa, PES etc
And really when looking at the 2011 list there are some Really High quality games. And Publishers aren't really going to be like"we will wait till 2012" because if an game has been in development for around 3 years + publishers cant just keep holding on unless the publisher goes by the name of Sony or take two interactive or Valve
But when you look at all the title and you look at the times and how many games are struggling to the Big yearly franchises. You think that what happens when an heap of them fail to meet the break even sales? despite how good they are??? Then you have used games taking up to 50% of new games sales off some titles you can really think that if 2011 doesn't have an crazy year the game industry is going to be really shaken by this next year.
Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong
