At least I had the courage to make a prediction. So I was more than 70k out. Not bad  at all. NA is a hard market to predict.

The PS3 is clawing its way back. 360 Slim launch in Europe has had no impact at all.

Uh, 360 S hasn't launched in Europe yet?

Not till july 16th i thinks.

Wii and PS3 are the only system that sell in Europe. Ok, the 360 may equal the PS3 in sales when it launches in mid July. Will it last now it will be like Japan. Slight increase of 10k than back down 10k in the following week.

360 Slim  launch sales week in Europe 50k. PS3 Slim sales in the same week  50k.

finally!  i've been itching for numbers all morning.

pretty big drop off for the 360 but what was it prior to the slim?  like 2-3k,.. so maybe this is a sign of sustained increase?

It's risible to suggest in just the second week of the pricedrop/slim/monster hunter effect that we can see a sustained increase.

Wait another fortnight. 360 will be back down to 2k units a week...

Trust me, I live in the U.K.  In Europe there are a shitload of DS'

It will be at least at 120k in Europe the week of the slim. Probably higher. PS3 will eventually over time claw it's way back in terms of leading sales in Europe on a weekly basis but that will take a long time to change.

As for America......Gone, befoe it even started really. PS3 will end on 22% market share.

hmmm...  I reckon 20%

I will take that bet. The PS3 will finish above 20% market share.

Wow, Japan console sales are pretty low compared to the rest of the world. I don't know why so many sites focus on them.

Think your find europe actually like PS3 and 360 exactly the same.

The majority of the gap in others actually comes from the middle east and parts of asia. Like for example this week if i remember right was 8k. If the gap is only 10k then that means 80% of it comes from there. In EU 360 is a lot stronger then it was last gen and PS3 is a lot weaker then it was last gen. If you look at the biggest games market in the EU which is United Kingdom is has outsold Wii and PS3 for many weeks now. It is selling at around 2 to 1 over PS3 currently. That is before the new model comes out. UK sales will have a similar effect to that of US. The UK sales will make up the gap from those non EU regions.

You can't really use Japan as an indication to the rest of the worlds interests. For example when PS3 cut it's price in Japan in it's first week it sold 152k! A month later and it was back to the 30k's. Meaning obviously boosts from price cut's don't last forever. But when they settle down into an average they are normally higher then before the cut.

it was for US only btw but... that wasnt a bet on offer and will take years to prove...  pointless.

but I will take that other bet that will  only take a couple of weeks... for others weekly numbers.  yes?

Not a chance would I take that bet. Someone on here conservatively estimated the 360 Slim would sell over 100k in the launch week in Europe. PS3 sells around 50k  every week now. 360 Slim launch  week would more than likely see a small decrease in PS3 Slim sales or PS3 slim sales stay around 50k in Europe for that week.

What is interesting is we are now heading towards the time when PS3 had it's price cut and the new slim model last year (sept 1st?).

yes... ps3 will be down by just under 1.0m yoy during september and by about 600k during October.

Isn't it a little bit early to already spin September and October?

The point was the current PS3 numbers looked good against a period when we sort of knew a price cut and slim was coming last year. So the numbers we have are going up against that period. If it didn't beat those numbers it would be very worrying indeed. That was what i was trying to say. It isn't about spinning anything. In terms of year over year sales the PS3 has just over a month left of that period. It will be interesting to see what Sony do to try and counter that. Move will have no effect on it at all. As said before i can't see people paying £300 for a PS3 then £100 for the controllers just to play a Harry Potter style game, that is a lot of wishful thinking!

Wins for PS3 in Europe and Japan should mean the PS3 will win the worldwide weekly sales over the 360. Gap between PS3 and 360 will be less than 27k in NA. So PS3 will win the week over the XBox 360. I will be surprised if 360 outsells PS3 by more than 15k in NA this week.

PS3 wins the weekly sales over the 360 by 12k.

late to the party but...aaaaaaaawkward
