The PS3 is most definitely not doomed. But it will not get out of last place.

I know some people are really wishingfor this, but I think it was impressive for the PS3 to come from such a rocky doom and gloom start to a third place option that's only third in hardware sales.  The PS3 can stay in third for all I care.  And assuming this will be the case until a new PlayStation is released, just get over it already.

The PS3 will surely overtake the 360 LTD, the main question is if its before or after the "next box" is released.

I say thsi with confidence only because of the strength of EU and Japan combined with the fact the PS3 still has price cut boosts left.....

Im not so sure the spike in America is really due to the $150 model to be hones of the, i thought it was, but we have two weeks of increasing numbers....th eonly reason it could increase a second week was the availability of the slim, not a big software bump.

I don't think the PS3 needs to overtake the 360 anymore. Even last place this gen is actually pretty damn good sales wise. PS3 will have probably around 50M sales by the time the next gen starts. I consider that good for 3rd place.

who cares, anyhow? the PS3 is already by far the best-selling 3rd place console ever.... that ain't bad.

Devil's Advocate:  How many of those 360s are still working?  Are we talking worldwide or just in the Americas?  What if the PS3 has a shelf life similar to the PS2 and sticks around a few years longer then the 360?  Will the Kinect really boost new 360 sales that much, or be more limited to people who already own a 360?

Why do you think Kinect is going to have such a massive effect on 360 hardware?

The Window for PS3 to overtake 360 is all but closed if Move isnt streets ahead of Kinect then I guess the fat lady will have sung on this gen.

Still the PS3 is now profitable and SONY will have learnt a lot from getting burnt in the early days of the generation.

I reckon this gen ends in 30 months time and the next gen will be 1080p 60 fps 3D.

It's time to admit that the 360s release is not that impressive considering the ps3s was more expensive(by $100) and managed to sell 500k consoles in one week, the damage control on here is out of hand, seriously...

Even if x360 sell loads in europe to make up for this when it releases, and the amount of all three markets add up to more than 500k than that is to be expected, but it should be a huge increase on ps3s sales considering the price difference...

I would not lose faith in PS3, we have GT5, that will work miracles in Europe alone, have faith...
