Forums - PC Discussion - Fable 3 to kick-start Microsoft PC Gaming push

From Kotaku.

I won't hold my breath, we've heard this all before on numerous occasions and far from supporting PC gaming, Microsoft has wilfully and deliberately damaged it. What's the betting it'll just be Kinnect for Windows?

So Fable 3 is supposed to make up for years of hardly bothering with pc gaming as well as closing down their pc gaming sutdios?

Frankly, at this point I'd need to see their 'gaming push' to believe it.

Hmmmm. This is interesting to me.

I see this, if they are for real, as....Is MS going to try to get out of the console bussness?

Why support PC AND the 360? Why split your market like that. I saw the reason I had a great PC as a reason NOT to get a 360.

Also if they really do want a PC "push". Put all your games on Steam. I'm sorry but you can't beat Steam. Make it the end all be all of PC gaming and put all PC games on it. Then Market your PC games properly. Get a hold on the viruse problem (somehow lol). Streamline PC gaming, like console's, and it will succede.

When I put Infamous in my PS3 i know its going to work. I know the graphics are going to be a certain way and I wont need to go buy a new computer every 3 years to keep games looks cool. I also wont need to jump through hoops to get shit to work on my consoles. IE...Whenever I play Fallout 3 on my PC I have to run a program that turns all my audio codecs off. Otherwise I cant listen to GNR in game and I love 3-Dog lol.

A little off topic but ya know if console games could use mouse/keyboards just like pcs id never have the need for a gaming pc again lol.

Back on topic.

Streamline PC's, somehow, and they would own. Nothing less will make them as viable as consoles.

Why would they choose such a mediocre title to spearhead their PC gaming scene? I mean seriously, bring back Ensemble and  make a proper game. Nothing has come out of Molyneux that is worth more than a fart since Dungeon Keeper and I highly doubt Fable 3 will be different.

Streamlining PCs would make them as dumbed down and horrible as consoels for games, so no, do not streamline them, you just need to learn to use them.  I have not had a problem with a PC game running in a while, and all of them seem to be fixed by clicking "Use in Windows XP Compatability mode."

Oh you got me all wrong. I know how to use PC's and to get games to work on them.

But they are anything but easy. Fallout 3 was terrible with bugs, freezing and crashing.

And whats Horrible about streamlining? You want things to be hard to use just for the sake of them being hard to use? Thats makes no sence. I want less time messing with my PC config's and more time gaming.

Steam is a great case of streamlining for PC's. And its by far my favorite app. I dont buy games unless there on steam these days. Except some MMO's and of course Blizzard games.

I don't believe it till I see it. The only push they'll make for PC is away from it, it seems. Thank god for developers like Blizzard and Valve.

I am very interested in this, for the PC gaming more than Fable III.

I love PC gaming.  I started as a PC gamer (Dragon Wars on my Commadore 64 to King's Quest on my IBM PS2)

I hope MS is sincere here and really works to bring back PC gaming to its old glory.  Do not get me wrong, I love my consoles also (and I buy almost every multiplat game I can on the PC anyway) but there is something to be said for games made ONLY for the PC (Blizzard Games, The Witcher, MS old RTS games, etc).

There used to be a nice broad path opened between PC gaming and Console gaming.  That soon turned to PC games becoming console games (which never quite felt right on the consoles).  Now the shift is console games "also" coming out on the PC (which also never quite feel right).

I hope they are not just blowing smoke here (and doing a Kinect for Windows Campaign).  Im not against it, I just hope it is much more than just that.

But they are anything but easy. Fallout 3 was terrible with bugs, freezing and crashing.

It's funny you bring up Fallout 3, everything I've heard of the PS3 version has been that it constantly crashes and such, where as my friend who has both it and the PC version has nothing bad at all to say of the PC version.  *shrugs*

Yea i have heard the ps3 version had problems as well.

My PS3 version had no issues at all. But to be fair I only played the ps3 version for around 5-10 hrs or so.

One thing is for sure the PC version in known for being very bad. Like at one time my game would freeze 1 min into gameplay. It became unplayabale. Then one day after a 5th reinstall it stopped lol. I dunno.
