Selling my 360.

It feels redundant to own one now that all the games to be released are sequels or Wii knockoffs.

Got it.  So, due to the second half of the show, Gears 3 and Halo Reach have disappeared off the face of the earth?  Oh yes, and Black Ops Fable 3 and Rising are no longer about either?

As I see it, Microsoft mentions they have all the top hardcore stuff in the first half.  In the second half, they do all Kinect stuff.

Around the Network

$149 and new console $299

- Fail.

If I were Mr Sony, i'd knock some dollars off the PS3 price just as Kinect launches.

Word is the Arcade is getting a price drop to $150, can anyone confirm?

nobody can confirm and it is a rumour

even if it is,it will be in fall plus NATAL cost

I'm pretty sure those price cuts on existing stock are for real with redesigned units being shipped today.

Of course it also means that the existing designs have been cut from production making this an inventory clearing sale more than anything else.

If MS sells a Kinect/Arcade bundle for under $300, they're leveraged in a pretty decent position to move quite a few consoles.

Xbox 360 = SOFTCORE!!!  What happen to their game line up? At the end of the day gamers care about GAMES!!! Kinect is cool in some aspects but it will become mundane one day and people will go back to the controller.  The drive experience without a controller or steering wheel looks lame. The only thing worth it was the Ubi Soft exercise game.  Other than that it was a very lame show.   I hope Sony kicks M$ a$$ in the conference and Move shows a real interactive experience for Hardcore  gamers!!!

I can already summarize Sony's conference for you.

They will do their annual powerpoint show where they just go through slides after slide pointing out how many ps3's they've sold and they are going to break it down in to demographics by age and other criterias.  They will talk about their growth and the playstation family blah blah blah.  Afterwards they are going to tout their past success with the ps2 and ps1 and go through the figures for those.

Then they are going to show a bunch of titles for the psp and ps3 to get everyone excited most won't be released this year but they are going to give vague release dates for some of them like winter or fall 2010 which of course are going to get delayed.  They will show games that are years away from being released as well but give the impression that they are far along in development and you won't hear about them for months to years after that.

When that is out of the way they will get to Move which is just a Wii rip off.  Oh yeah they will periodically show game montages of the ps3 and move games with vague release dates for this year that you won't get to play this year because they are getting delayed and will be at next years e3.

Are you really implying that Sony's 2009 conference was worse than this?

Because, you just describes Sony's 2009 conference pretty well.

Nope I'm not implying Sony's 2009 conference is worse.  Also my summary could be used to describe most of thier conferences since they launched the ps3.

I like Sony I just don't like how they show stuff that's years away from completion and try to act like we will see it soon.  It's not completely their fault because third parties like square enix are responsible too for showing stuff like ff vs 13 and the 3rd birthday so early and getting people excited for them only to have the titles disappear.

Even if Microsoft don't wow people by announcing a lot of new titles at one time at least their titles usually make the release dates with a few exceptions.

Damn it, I want to want Kinect, it looks awesome, but it doesn't have the games for me. Your Shape looked good, but it's a fitness app. That dance thing looked good, but unless there is partner dancing, it's a no-go. The rest just looked kind of interesting. Give me something awesome!

There is multiplayer dance videos showing 3 dancers together. Gametrailers.

I only see the stuff from the conference. I was thinking of something where you actually dance with another person.

Am I missing something?

Around the Network

I am a little slow, rewatching the conference now.

flying that Hind in Black ops looked cool! And very fun! Impressive.

And cutting stuff up in MG Rising. I hope cutting stuff like she did with that melon is possible in the game. I love cutting stuff!

Damn, people are calling to much fails on this. Why don't we just wait and see.... it's hard to swallow your words. There's a lot of that lately...

If they sell a bundle with Kinect and Console for $300 - they will be making big losses

GameStop says Kinect will be $149:

Seems pretty steep but they can bundle it for less than $300 US, same price as a PS3.

I see a BIG problem for Kinect right now.

They showed nothing about Kinect that will support the existing owners of Xbox 360s. No Halo or Gear support for Kinect. So there isn't a big incentive for these people to get it.

If the Kinect costs say $150, that will bring the total price to $450. No way in hell are you going to get many people to buy in at that price when the Wii costs $250 less.

The games for core gamers will take longer to make.  It's a little unreasonable to expect core games to be developed using a completely new control paradigm in one year or even a year and a half,

In Wii's first year and a half, Nintendo delivered...

  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
  • Excite Truck
  • Super Paper Mario
  • Pokemon Battle Revolution
  • Mario Strikers: Charged
  • Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
  • BWii: Batallion Wars II
  • Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast
  • Link's Crossbow Training
  • Super Mario Galaxy
  • Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
  • Super Smash Bros. Brawl
  • Mario Kart Wii

...and almost all of them were present at E3 2006.  This in addition to new casual fare (Wii Sports, Wii Play, Endless Ocean, Wii Fit) and old adapted casual fare (Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree, Mario Party 8).

So all those games took a year or a year and a half to make?  Sony may now be using the slogan "This Changes Everything" (or Apple or whoever they copied it from) but Kinect really does change everything for games.  It's much easier to tack on what amounts to a mouse in another form than it is to use something truly revolutionary like Kinect.
