so you're arguing the Ipad comes with kick ass software and you can't even name one example of such software ????

ok... Most Android cells are more powerful and the latest are rated far better than the iphones. Only thing iPhone currently has is app count/selection. But its also been out for years longer. Google's table won't give the ipad years of a head start and the app count is catching quickly as is the market share.

Its the same thing that happened in the PC market. Apple was top dog with great hardware/software but their were a closed expensive system. MS and its hardware partners came in and trounced them. In 5 years you'll be eating crow.

Plus, I didn't say Google's tablet would cost less, I said it would have far more features and thus be worth the $400. Just as the latest and Android phones cost about the same as an iPhone, yet have better hardware and more features.

You're right. Saying iphone OS, with App store, that has over 200,000 applications (a third of which are free) is not an example of a piece of software. It is a description of how, as a gadget, the ipad has probably had the highest rate of software support at launch of all time.

Since when did really compelling software and applications have to be free? I never argued that it was free, I said it was available.

Apple products sell on brand name alone. The IPad is an over priced piece of garbage. Just an upsized ITouch with a heavy price. But so many idiots will buy it just like the IPhone, IPod and ITouch. You can buy a much better lap top with functionailty and multi-tasking and runs Windows 7.

IPhone is over priced smart phone that has cost some people thousands of dollars in monthly phone plan bills.

IPod is not even a good MP3.  So many better and cheaper MP3s are on the market and they are even cheaper and better quality.

Apple  sells expensive cheaply manufactured products to millions of idiots.

That brand name was built over a 30 years history to become synonimous with attention to details, design and user interaction. It's a value they worked for and for which they keep reaping the benefits.

Maybe you don't care about focused user experience, and you care more about a larger feature matrix and higher spec numbers. Calling everybody who has a different set of priorities an idiot is extremely naive, though.

In a few years Apple went from zero to highest profiting smart phone seller in the world, surpassing entrenched giants such as Nokia. Meanwhile the iPhone still comes up as the highest device when users are inquired about their satisfaction in terms of use.

It is not for you, nor frankly for me, but I can see the value proposition. Maybe you should look better instead of badmouthing what you don't understand.

I woudn't go that far, but I'm kinda surprised by the number of people purchasing an Ipad at its current price while there isn't yet really a killer app for the device. 

Sure there are a lot of Apps, but none really that compelling and at this point the Ipad remains more a gadget than anything else...

Makes me wonder if the same users won't start crying in a few months when the Ipad price drop, the same way early Iphone customers did when Apple first dropped the Iphone price......
