Who would get a $170 PSP when you can get a $190 iTouch 8GB which has a good size screen, tons of apps/software for cheap, links in with iTunes, far better battery life and is pocketable?

I whole-heartedly agree.

There haven't been any good games to pirate lately.

lol nice one ;)

I know the itouch/phone took some steam from the system I wish umd movies were still supported maybe that would help. Maybe Sony should step up and recruit the android market the apps would be great for the psp and the games would be important for droid.

I love my PSP. I don't care what anyone says but to ME it is the best handheld.

I'm surprised it isn't the same story in Europe. How can the system be getting close to the numbers it gets in Japan yet almost no games ever charting? Even before you mention piracy, it's pretty obvious the 360 has a major piracy problem in Europe yet its games still chart. America isn't the WTF question, that belongs to Europe's PSP hardware numbers.

A big selling point of the 360 is live... and you can't play online with pirated games.

I think that's why 360 software still competes with the others.

It needs more unique games and not just cut down versions of games on the PS3, or at least, that's what it would take to appeal to me...

Just curious but why is it that you prefer the PSP to the DS? You can have your own preference I'm just curious why. The PSP is a great handheld in it's own right but it has the edge only in multimedia functionality and graphical capabilities. And you can play it on a TV if you buy the component cables (for anyone that has had eye strain from playing text-heavy DS games on a DS Lite, you'd wish you could hook up a DS to a TV). The PSP's greatest strength, Japanese RPGs, also happens to be the DS' greatest strength and the DS has even more of them, with no shortage of quality. And like I said, gamers would rather play God of War, LittleBigPlanet, ModNation Racers, Gran Turismo, etc. on a PS3 rather than a PSP.

PSP's homebrew blows the DS homebrew out of the water by a long shot though. I'll give it that. But with the newer model PSP-3000s, I believe that some of them can't be homebrewed. It depends on the motherboard of the handheld and the firmware version you have.
