mgs3 - 10/10

one of the bst games ever. aftr the hug disappointing mgs2 luks like kojima realized he made a mess out of the plot and decided to make a prequel. th results is a James Bond levl epic, with sum best music pieces, classic moments, great plot twists, a understandable story (sumthing mgs2/mgs4 lack). this is the peak of mgs. if only mgs4 was this gud :(

8.5/10 worst metal gear solid other than portable ops in my opinion. Including the Game Boy Color (which was awesome) Still a damn good game though

9.5

Great game. Has a lot of problems from its predecessors (very long cutscenes, some incredibly ridiculous plot elements, a few uninspiring boss battles, laughable A.I. - and in the normal version - bad camera (thank god I played the subisistence version).

But, that ending... saves any problems the game might have. It really sent shivers down my spine that fucking Boss revelation! Jesus, it's one of my fondest moments in gaming, and that's saying a lot, imo. Other than that, had some great characters, Revolver Ocelot performed in a not crap-way, great setting, lots and lots of fan service.

The best MGS of all, by a far margin and the best PS2 game.

8/10

Easily the best game in the series. With proper script editing it would have been a ten.

4/5, on a more popular scale 9/10.

The story went in a wrong direction but storytelling was great. Graphics were very impressing. Gameplay worked except for the horrible camera which didn't work at all without the radar. Luckily Subsistence mostly fixed that. Bosses were boring persons though the battles were mostly entertaining. The End was great, as was the Boss. I liked how evil Volgin was and loved to see young Ocelot. Atmosphere was great. Overall, a great game but a not so great MGS.

Great gameplay and awesome Boss fights (specially against "The End")
Weakest story in the series

Its my least favorite MGS game, but still a great one

8.8/10

The best of the MGS series in my humble opinion. Although the story continues to stray in some extremely odd directions from time to time, the central story (from what I could gather) is just plain great, especially the ending. Kudos to Kojima for letting me as the player press the trigger, which made the ending that much more heart wrenching.

Other than that, bosses were for the most part forgettable (except for the End and the Sorrow, and of course the Boss) and the camera and gameplay were somewhat clunky from time to time. Still, despite its faults, it has the most heart out of the series, and that counts for a lot in my ranking of this series.

7.5/10 - The only console MGS I didn't finish, the story was really good, almost as good as the first game, but the gameplay started going into the WTF range of complexity. Controlling Snake felt somehow worse, clunkier and just less intuitive than the PS1 original, which I played with the D-pad. I could not get over how badly the game controlled, which is a shame because the story seemed to be getting pretty epic. Slight spoiler - I got to where Snake and the Boss have the fist fight and Snake gets schooled, maybe a bit after that.

That happens three or four times over the course of the game. Do you mean on the bridge?

No, it was after the bridge fight, is there another one shortly after he drags himself out of the water and you patch him up?
