Oblivion was nice but a bit generic.

The thing that broke it completely for me is the monsters leveling with you.

For me it's a no / no in a RPG : the world should NEVER adapt to you, you must be the one adapting to the world you're in.

In Oblivion, when you start, you face small thugs, then if you level up, you get armored warriors in the same region.

That's just a bad idea, it breaks completely the sense of imersion and the authenticity in the world.

Still a very beautiful and fun game, if a bit repetitive. I'll play it again on my new PC soon to see if I'm too harsh about it and CGI is right. ;)

Totally agree!!When it comes to RPG Bethesda is two steps higher than the competition.Mass Effect 2 was amazing, Dragon Age excellent, Lost Odyssey an unforgettable experience, Demon's Souls intriguing...but Elder Scrolls games play on a league of their own!

I have a friend who would 100% agree with that article. He at one stage just couldn't stop talking and play Elder Scrolls Oblivion.

But I personally don't like an RPG set back in the days with Dragon Age being the other exception because BioWare made the game. What I also don't like is any of Bethesda's character customization options. You can never make a hot decent looking chic in any of Bethesda's customization without Mods (Fallout 3...) Not just that but characters just look ugly.

Ummm no you are completely wrong. RPG is just RPG. WRPG and JRPG fall into the same genre on a very technical scale. Just in case you didn't notice "RPG" is in both of the terms.

For me the best RPG this gen for all three platforms are Disgaea 3, Fallout 3 and Super Paper Mario. Last gen was Morrowind, Disgaea and Tales of Symphia. Excuse the bad grammer. Up all night :P

nah, that can't be possible. if Mass Effect 2 is the best RPG EVER MADE, it's obviously the best this gen too!
