Forums - Gaming Discussion - Four years later: Oblivion is still the best RPG this gen

I think the opposite... one of the worst RPGs this gen.
Incredibly generic! Seriously, it breaks records in genericicity!!

Also, first person combat in an RPG... not good, imo!

I think Morrowind had a lot more content and things to do. However, Oblivion was a lot more accessable and thus became a much more popular WRPG. While I consider Mass Effect 2 the best RPG so far this gen, Oblivion had so much to do it was hard not to sink 100+ hours into that game just screwing around. Hopefully Bethesda is hard at work on their next Elder Scrolls game.

It's just that simple.

You probably think FFXIII is the best RPG this gen.

It's a great game but NOT the best RPG. I hated the lack of personality of your character, the frickin' vampire quests (being a Vampire in Oblivion sucks) and the huge amount of bugs, glitches and lag.

But the world is really huge you can do a lot of things and it's quite fun if you have the patience and time to consume on it. Good game but not the best.

Oblivion is not even the best Elder Scrolls game.

To each their own I guess.

If it's the best, then I guess the genre isn't for me.

Pixel Art can be fun.
