That sounds just as stupid as someone from another site writing an article titled "Is God of War 3 the beginning of the end of X360?"

ALl im saying is that if an xbox 360 slim does come out at a price tage of $149 it will seriously hurt the ps3

Seriously? Really? You think that Microsoft will slash $150 off the current price with the launch of the "360 Slim"?

By doing so Microsoft would start losing money on the 360 again and right now that's not something Microsoft needs. While they can afford to lose money (it is f'ing Microsoft) they have bigger problems.

I've seen the new "motherboard" for the "slim". All I see is them making everything smaller. While that's a good thing. Effective shinking lowers cost, but they also made the cooling system smaller. It's the same system that everyone has had problems with. Just it's smaller.

Sony is in a great situation right now. Losing $14 on the PS3, with the megaton games that have released so far. Microsoft has Halo: Reach (which won't expand the current userbase of the 360, no matter if you release the "slim" around the time it releases. I've already said that multiple times throughout this site) and the next Call of Duty game which won't be close to the blockbuster Modern Warfare 2 was.

Microsoft's time in the sun is ending on the 360. They won't be able to keep it going for more than 1 to 2 more years no matter what the Microsoft PR claims. It is not as flexible as the PS3.

We are still many years away from any company fully maxing out the PS3. While there are games that have already ran into limits on the 360.

I was sayin it before, so I sat it again: MS pull the trigger to sony when they drop box to 99/59. And people saying it'd be impossible are forgetting four things:
a) how deep ms pockets are
b) how cheep made xbox hw is
c) big money coming to them from amazing sw sales, Live and accessories
BIG D) how methodical and insisting MS is at killing their competition: ps to them is just like another netscape ;)

Yeah like the iphone was another netscape for Zune ;) Oh wait... MS lost, my bad.

The myth MS is successful in killing competition is just that... a myth.

MS tried tons of things and succeeded only at 2 of them : Windows and Office.

Everything else more or less failed. 360 can also be considered a half success until now, though.

Well basicly having 360 go head 2 head with ps3 at $300 is insane, because ps3 has more money for your buck

but lets say a $200 360 slim vs a $300 ps3 slim is where Sony is gonna sweat because it puts 360 at equal value......

So in the end, the console war between these two will be decided on the games

Equal value?

Not to sound fanboyish, but after $100 for the wifi adapter you are sitting at both consoles being $300 again.

And then PS3 still has Bluetooth, Built-in controller battery (for 360 I think it's like $50 for the battery pack?  Been awhile since I bought mine) and a Blu-ray player..

Casual Gamers dont care about that stuff, all they care about is the console price....So seeing one way cheaper that the other is a huge advantage

besides I never use those things on my ps3 anyways....So its just a waste

I can smell and see BS.

I don't think it will make MUCH of a difference.
Sure they will sell well, but the PS3 is at a sweet spot with 299.
If they need to a drop to 250 it will make this a "non issue" as KB would put it.
Plus "It's Official: PS3 Has The Best Library Ever"
I think everything will be juuuuuuuuuust fine

Before you go posting that link around too much, consider that Lair is on that list of "Gold" games.  It got a Famitsu score of 34/50 whic is above the 32/50 needed to be on that list.  Remember that Famitsu is a Japanese hype meter.  Their ratings are based, and they have admitted, largely on how much the game is anticipated.  The only reason the Wii is way low on that list is because of all the shovelware.

Also, if you actually read the numbers, Famitsu may have given a greater percentage of PS3 games a "gold" ranking, but they gave more 360 game gold rankings in total number, than they gave PS3 games, 77 PS3 games to 104 360 games.

So, first, Famitsu is a poor measure of game quality.  Second, if you are going to post a link to numbers, make sure you read them first.

I give that post a 9.1.

Wow, even posts are being rated now a days are they ?

This whole fanboy scene has hit a whole nother level.

This argument could be endless, after all, we are going by other peoples opinions.

BUT going by what you are saying, the PS1 is much better than the 360

PS1 (130/2645)

360 (104/240)

Is that right ?

The whole point of this was to say "on average" which ones have a higher rating, not "who has the most".

I would have thought that was obvious... Maybe it's just me

I made no comment as to whether I agreed with the OP in my post.  I simply pointed that the evidence you presented in your post was flawed.  In fact, if you read my earlier post, I said that a 360 slim would not mean mean anything for PS3 sales.  It would likely only keep 360 sales on track, which is good for MS, sure, but it certainly wouldn't be "the end of the PS3".

Also, if you want to bring the PS1 into it, the PS1 was an awesome system.  It had a crapton of games made for it because any bozo who knew C and could program a game for it.  So, it had a ton of useless games, but it also had many very good games and Sony is still riding the legacy of that system.  If you are going to ask me which was a better system for it's time, I would say PS1, hands down.  I have not a single bad thing to say about the PS1.

So, going from that point of view, average rating percentage is rediculous for trying to compare a system.  If you make 4 games for a new system and 3 of them are highly rated, then you are now at a 75% high rating which blows the other systems out of the water.  So, again, the article you posted is useless and proves nothing, just as your fanboy accusation evaporates into thin air when you actually consider what I posted and the previous posts I have made on the topic.

I give that post a 9.2.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.

Both consoles are supposed to last 10 years.. First off, Dvds will not be used much by then..

You think DVD will be gone in 5 years? DVD outsells BluRay 10:1 today.

Second of all, as cliche as it sounds, I think graphics enhancements over 10 years on the ps3 to overwelm the 360..

The difference is not as big as the difference between Xbox and PS2. The Xbox was the graphical better console last gen and it did not help.

And as you have already seen, exclusives on ps3 are far superior already in 2010, this is why microsoft is using natal to grab the Wii fanbase and cutting prices.. The product will not last as long as PS3 and they will release a new console well before Sony.

Best selling exclusive last year: Halo ODST
Best selling exclusive 2008: Gears of War 2
Best selling exclusive 2007: Halo 3

PS3 had some nice games last year with Uncharted or Killzone2 but they failed to grow as big as a Halo or a Gears of War. They were great games, but not as significant as other franchises in this industry.

Thank you

Actually I said DVD will not be used much in 10 years not 5 years, if you can read lol...

And actually the difference in graphic potential is far GREATER than Xbox was over PS2 lol, I don't know what your talking about..

PS3 can push 1.8 Teraflops of total computing power, while the 360 can push around 1 Teraflop of total computer power..

Thats nearly 2:1 in power, the big question was, could developers take advantage of it, and games recently (uncharted 2, GOW3, Heavy Rain) have shown the beginning of the difference in quality between the ps3 and 360....

And remember there are atleast 7-8 years to go!!.....

As far as the superior exclusives... I didn't ask which games sold the most, I was talking specifically about the quality of the games...

In this console race:     PS3 = Tortoise        360 = Hare

“Absolutely, we can do much more with it. I don’t know if we are even close to 50 percent of PlayStation 3’s power at this point,” said Asmussen about God of War 3.

this thread is still going. good job mods.

lol I had to respond to that guy... When it comes to technical debates I love joining in (I'm going into a career in this stuff) :)
