Is PSP dying outside of Japan?

in Sales Discussion, last active on on 16 February 2010

PSP has always had it´s strongest market in Japan. In America and Europe it really is struggling and has been for some time. However, it is really declining in sales now in US. The newly relased NPD numbers showed that PSP just barely managed to sell 100k for the month, that is down from 172k last January which is quite a large drop percentage wise. Softwarewise the portable...

The lets celebrate that Monster Hunter 3 is a million seller thread!

in Nintendo Discussion, last active on on 11 February 2010

Well Monster Hunter 3 has today reached the millionmark according to Famitsu and that´s something worth celebrating for Nintendofans! Think about it, it´s the first thirdparty millionseller for a Nintendo homeconsole in Japan since SNES and that´s around 15 years ago! This news might get overlooked so I just decided to honor MH3 with a thread where all Nintendofans can...

NSMBW is going to be MASSIVE in Japan. Preorders rank higher than NSMB DS.

in Nintendo Discussion, last active on on 08 December 2009

There is a site named Comgnet that ranks preorders for games in Japan and they update on a daily basis. They have a system with points and don´t ask me how it works but apparently they are trustworthy and a good tracker for preorder numbers. The big news is that they are tracking New Super Mario Bros Wii way higher in preorders than what New Super Mario Bros for DS did in the...

Im a Nintendofan and heres why Im grateful to Sony.

in Nintendo Discussion, last active on on 21 November 2009

This is my salute to Sony as a Nintendofan. I am a huge Nintendofan that has played games for over 20 years. I´m in full belief that the best games ever to be made are from Nintendo (Super Metroid, Zelda-A Link to the Past, Super Mario Galaxy etc.). It made me miserable the way Nintendo was outplayed by Sony during the N64/PS1, GC/PS2 years. Sony easily and clearly won those generations...

DSi LL fist shipment in Japan 150k, first week sales 100k seems likely

in Sales Discussion, last active on on 14 November 2009

The DSi LL first shipment will be similar to the PSPgo (~150k). Sinobi says the system has a high chance of selling over 100k on launch week (2 days). (From: Gaf) So it seems that DSi LL will indeed be a hit. Much bigger than PSPgo. I was myself sceptic at first since the japanese seems to love all things small when it comes to portables but this seems like it will get the green light over...

Monster Hunter 3 showing legs, sure to reach the million

in Nintendo Discussion, last active on on 12 November 2009

Monster Hunter 3 is really starting to show legs as it seems to have stabilized itself at 5k/week. Here are the weekly sales since the release according to Famitsu. Just look at the last five weeks! Sales will also be up in December and with that I think it´s now safe to say that it will be a millionseller. The first ever for a thirdparty on a Nintendo homeconsole in Japan since SNES. And...

    Is PS2 overtracked in Japan?

in Sales Discussion, last active on on 18 October 2009

I am curious about our numbers for PS2 in Japan. They seem to be heavily overtracked if you compare it with numbers from the saletrackers in Japan. Media Create and Famitsu both have it at around 21,6- 21,7 million lifetime. VG Chartz has it at almost 23 million lifetime. That´s 1,3- 1,4 in difference between our numbers and the japanse trackers. Usually VG chartz...

Tomodachi Collection- breakout hit of the year

in Nintendo Discussion, last active on on 12 November 2009

Since there is almost no talk about what has easily become the biggest suprise hit of the year in Japan, Tomodachi Collection, I decided to make a thread about it. The game sold a little over 100k first week and has since then stabilized itself with sales between 70-90 k per week. The game currently stands at 1, 156 k according to Famitsu and will easily become the years biggest seller in Japan...

Compare the console softwaresales in Japan, whos the king? Runner up?

in Sales Discussion, last active on on 12 September 2009

Here are numbers from Famitsu comprising of their annual top 500 chart with marketshare for each system all the way back to the year of 2000. The annual top 500 chart is very good I think for comparing the consoles softwaresales and seeing just what system dominates in Japan. So who´s the king then? Well it seems that Japan has always chosen a clear winner somehow in every...

DS owners, should I buy a DS?

in Nintendo Discussion, last active on on 12 September 2009

I´m thinking about buying a Nintendo DS. I´m a huge Nintendofan but I´ve always loved playing games on the big screen. I bought a Game Boy Advance a few years back and I was really annoyed and disappointed with the lightning of the portables screen. It seemed to me that it was near impossible to get a lightning that was optimal for playing games so I sold it...

DS to become greatest software selling console ever in Japan?

in Nintendo Discussion, last active on on 17 August 2009

As we all know Nintendo DS is a phenomenal succes. Not in the least in Japan where it´s second of all time in hardwaresales behind only Game Boy (32 m). I didn´t realise just how huge sales the system have accomplished in Japan until I took a look at this chart from Japancharts.com with the top 100 software sales for NDS: Japanese total sales from 02 December 2004 to 19 July...

Are Square-Enix going to show Wii stronger support?

in Nintendo Discussion, last active on on 16 July 2009

I´m thinking that Square-Enix will support Wii stronger in the future with some big softwaretitles. Maybe Kingdom Hearts 3 or another big title? Most likely a Dragon Quest remake, Dragon Quest VII maybe since that one still hasn´t had a remake and a Wii version could improve on the PS1 original? My reason for being so optimistic about S-E and Wii is that they have choosen to put...

in Sales Discussion, last active on on 23 June 2009
