    Sony's Q4 FY2006 Earnings Announcement

in Sales Discussion on 16 May 2007

It's not like those units won't end up selling eventually anyway, and the faster they can produce units, the faster they can create a decrease in production costs. Sony will also aim to ensure complete supply during the Christmas shopping season, something I'm not convinced Nintendo and to a lesser extent Microsoft can do. Businesses like Nintendo, who take 6 months to react (I think they...

    Sony's Q4 FY2006 Earnings Announcement

No reason to question Sony's ability to ship 11 million units this year. Even if they have to stuff the channel, they'll get it done....

    Incognito, Sony to Split?

in Gaming Discussion on 16 May 2007

Incog never had the impact Singletrac did. I guess it really does come down to a question of just how important Twisted Metal is to Sony at this stage. All that really matters is that they keep Jaffe on....

    Sony's Q4 FY2006 Earnings Announcement

in Sales Discussion on 16 May 2007

The other divisions were dragging Sony down while the games division supported it. This is a big turnaround. They are eyeing a return to around break even for the current year, though how fast they can drop costs may be the biggest factor.Shipment forecast is 11 million, so they're pretty much expecting to remain third through the end of the year....

    I cant make a decision on a PS3, Wii, or 360!!!! @_@

in Gaming Discussion on 15 May 2007

If you're looking for shooters, it's pretty simple: get a 360.I would agree that if price is a concern, that may be a deciding factor for you right there. I don't want to spend over $400, so I'd hold off on both PS3 and Elite. However, I'm not so desperate for the lackluster early lineups and can wait for both to drop to that.If you really only want one platform and can live...

Final Fantasy 7 remake for the wii?

in Gaming Discussion on 15 May 2007

DS = smaller budget, more sales. Whether they could actually squeeze it onto DS is the question. Short of that, I'd see it on PS3 or PSP....

Forum Archive: IGDA Japan says many developers are shifting their focus to Wii

in Gaming Discussion on 15 May 2007

Developers have been too busy focusing on PS2 to worry about PS3, whereas Gamecube was dead and buried years ago. Nice list, though. A bunch of untitled games being released on New Year's Eve....

Next-gen business models are "embarrassing", says Brennan

in Gaming Discussion on 14 May 2007

So first of all I had to look up who Blast Entertainment was. Great, a company with punctuation in its name. Little Brain and Charlotte's Web? Huh? After I got past all that, though, I read the article. At the end of the day, if you don't spend $20 million on your title... somebody else will. Most games this early should be able to shift enough units globally to cover the production costs, if not...

Wii Userbase - What the #@??

in Gaming Discussion on 14 May 2007

Japanese developers apparently would want to drop the money on the PS3/360. Just ask... any of them. Wii Play's sales do nothing for third party developers, except that they help build the userbase, so maybe in two years it will be worth releasing games for the system. RE4 did well? When? As for Rogue Squadron, I'm expecting more out of Factor 5 now that they're teamed up with...

Wii Userbase - What the #@??

in Gaming Discussion on 13 May 2007

The other versions are jokes in their own right. If I've said it once, I've said it 137 times. People buy Nintendo systems for Nintendo games. Anyone hoping this is not true is going to be very surprised that third party support never gets beyond "meh" levels, whether Nintendo's first or third. No developer wants to drop $20 million on the system to have it be outsold 5:1 by something like Wii...

Nintendo Japan 3rd party sales analysis

in Sales Discussion on 13 May 2007

Once a system hits DS levels of penetration, like the NES did, third party games can sell on Nintendo systems. They'll still get their asses handed to them by Nintendo, though, no matter who they are or what they make. At a couple million unit userbase, however, nobody will care less about third party games. Look at the top games for any Nintendo system that's been out in the last 10...

Just got the two most recent expansion packs for Sims 2, so I'm back into that again. Also Bully and FFX. I ordered Fable: The Lost Chapters the other day because it's been sitting in my Amazon cart forever, but I'm not sure when I'll actually be playing it....
