Do you think RAGE will be a sales flop?

in Sales Discussion on 30 September 2011

This game wont flop. But that certainly doesn't mean it'll break out either. It has 175,928 pre-orders on the 360 in America (add onto that whatever it has in the rest of the world and whatever the ps3 numbers are). This would seem to me to be positioning it to be a moderate success. It'll probably get a decent bump during christmas aswell. The developers pedigree and the strong support it...

You are forced to change your religious beliefs - pick a new religion

in Politics Discussion on 24 August 2011

As an atheist I have no religion. If I was forced to be subservient to a theology I wouldn't have a choice. So it'd be the religion of whoever was forcing me to change. Probably some aspect of Hinduism or Buddhism if I had a choice because certain philosophical versions of those religions aren't as incompatible with my lack of faith then monotheism is for example....

In Your Opinion, What is the Better Book Series? LOTR, Potter, or Twilight?

in General Discussion on 19 August 2011

Whilst Harry Potter probably impacted me more since I was the same age as Harry was throughout most of the books and growing up with Harry was awesome, I have got to give it to Lord of the Rings. Amazing setting, great characters, hugely innovative and influential. Not much else to say really....

    Predict Star Wars Blu-ray sales

in Movies Discussion on 17 August 2011

The sales will be big, but I don't think they'll be as big as avatar in terms of units shipped. The cost of the box is far higher, its an old movie that many people already own on previous formats and from what I remember it doesn't come with the original cut (which will put of some of the harder core fans more likely to buy the box sets)? What you'll be looking at is something that doesn't...

What does being athiest mean to you?

in General Discussion on 16 August 2011

Many atheists simply have a lack of faith in a god/gods because they don't think that the burden of proof has been met by the theists. Thats what I am, it really is that simple. You would be hard pressed to find many atheists that would make the positive claim that god doesn't exist and shift the burden to themselves. If you're going to attack the atheist position at-least don't build up a straw...

Can a movement similar to fascism emerge in the US?

in Politics Discussion on 21 July 2011

There are two major types of atheism. There is the negative response to the burden of proof not being met by theists and then there is the active claim that god doesn't exist. Many atheists are the former and not the latter. I simply reject the claim that god exists because of the fallacious arguments put forward and the lack of evidence. The burden of the theists doesn't seem upheld in my...

    What Happens When We Die...

in General Discussion on 10 July 2011

I see no reason to think that my consciousness will continue to exist after I die. I think its most likely that once I die I will cease to exist ("I" meaning the seemingly emergent "mind" if you will that arises from the mental processes within my brain). All of the atoms will then be consumed by other organism etc and move around the universe as they did before I was alive....
