And i thought i could avoid extremism by just staying away from the political threads,it is starting to taint the gaming part too:p Most of what these people do is argueing with real minorities on how angry they should be for everything or for being problematic cause they do not follow the same extremes.

    x
You are right. And on the opposite side I just heard that the game is so progressive that Joel is selling himself with anal sex to get coffee.

You should know i think you are getting too much shit for letting your feels get the better of you,you atleast have a rare tendency to just act honest on what you feel and you atleast can adapt your viewpoint along with playing a certain game.

    x
Ah fuck it, I can't blame them, I've been on both sides of this, video games are art and art is subjective. I stopped giving my opinon, not because I was getting shit but because I've lost interest in even analysing this load of bollachs because it has fallen into mediocre territory in almost everything but the graphics and sound but some of it is really, really bad. The longer it goes on those bad aspects keep getting worse but hey, I'm still playing, I'm still enjoying parts of the game and I still want to see the conclusion even if it feels like it should have happened by now so at least there is that. I'm happy for the other people who can see this game and story as something better than I can and esspecially for those who've experienced it as a "masterpiece", I really wish I could see it the way the Journalists did.

Have gone almost through most of Stephen King His Insomnia book and it again reminded me what i liked about his books so i'm positive about that but i do think he is one of the most shallow and one of the writers that is most dependant on stereotypes of all time and for his popularity his quality is lacking.
    x
Alright ending of book was so weak an yet again cliche as hell, and Stephen King is a good storyteller but his writing is hit or miss.I'm gonna take a break from his books and start reading some UK literature,in my experience those are a bit less hollywoodesque with more believable characters.

I do not know if this comment will look bad or not but there will always be a portion of people be against what you would like them to feel or think and i agree that it is sometimes very difficult to not take offense at certain behaviour but is that same offense worthy of ruining your day when it stems from those who you have no hand in at changing here on the internet? Some might look upon the taken offense as a reward without repercussions.
You seem like a good person and i recognize that sensitivity about identity within myself, that's why i felt the need for this comment i think but have a good day !

    x
Yeah, I know some people are just looking to provoke a hostile response for amusement and everything. But I am human. I do have feelings.

I'm good now, just had to speak my peace in the moment. I do appreciate the concern. Have a great day as well!

    All good with you?

    x
I'm happpily spending my days learning the Mandarin, so far I've gotten "China don't trust Donald Trump. Donald Trump, asshoooole".

Nah, I'm all good. Happily waiting out the lockdown and learning a hell of a lot about current global politcs and the all the changes in the landscape that I've missed the last six years. It's actually extremely comforting to get into the context and have the knowledge to see what moves are being made and why, it takes all the fear out of the situation. This virus really rattled things up and attempting to judge the new order the world will fall into is much less aggravating than cramming the mind full of comfort entertainment and then wondering what's going to happen with no knowledge of context, the world doesn't seem like it's dramatically changed for worse if you follow that incremental changes with context.

^ Huh . Perhaps I'm not all good at all.

How bout you? You're in the US right? So at least your coming down the otherside of virus and have reopening plans to look forward to?

    on 22 April 2020

    x
Seems you are hyperfocussing on the corona situation and it is not so healthy to do that for a lengthy period.
Nope i'm not in the US(more people asked that but that might be because i sometimes go and whine in the political threads on here) but in the Netherlands and work in Belgium, happy i got an essential job so i can stay busy cause this corona lockdown sucks and surely because i can not go visit my family that lives in Belgium.
Going to invite the fam for a party when this is all over but i'm afraid that still might take a while.

    on 22 April 2020

    x
Yup. It's gonna take til next spring for us to get our collective shit together and weather the unkowns and that's if all goes well. You never know though, there mught be a trump card in play and we are humans so we fix things by nature and on the fly so it'll never land on the worst it can be. Ya'll get that party in time, just gotta navigate some rough water first, it'll make the party sweater.

I feel like you're barking up the wrong tree by constantly assuming the worst from people you debate here, for example if someone talks about not wanting political correctness it is mostly because they did see it being wrongly used and not because they're hatefull persons so putting so much focus on the most evil beings you can think of is worthless / not constructive.
Have a bit more faith in the good of people and also play Nioh 2.

    x
I need to play Nioh 1 first.

as for the other part...well, I see a lot of patterns and I can usually discern the underlying reason or cause behind a person's bigotry or hatred. this is one such case. I don't assume anything, I deduce that it's the only possible explanation.

    on 01 April 2020

    x
Deducing based on forumposts that stay within the guidelines and keep being respectfull while the outcome is an extreme negative.
That is still assuming and based on personal reasoning, some values in the deduction might be wrongly held higher than others.
But you will most likely totally dissagree and that's no crime.
And dude no need to play Nioh 1 just jump in the second game,if you like from soft games you have a good chance liking this too + it has a decent coop multiplayer and so many items ,weapons, fightstyles.

    So,did you play Nioh 2?
I'm playing it atm and having decent fun with it despite using a controller that is drifting.

    x
I didn't buy it but I did play enough hours of it to know it is too difficult for me and too complicated on top with all the insane enemy patterns and mechanics, I was inching my way through it to the point of practically not progressing at all and getting worse while doing so and it's too stress inducing. I've heard you can build around this and find your style but I can't be bothred, I may borrow it down the line or a deep sale when I can devote energy and stress. Games for me over the next year at least will be soley or for the most part stress relieving genres for escapism and on lower difficulties. If things go full lockdown and I can't afford to buy games in the winter I'll give it another go and "git gud", right now it's Doom and then REmake 3.

I hope you have fun with it and get a new controller, nothing worse than a controller that drifts in a game the requires timing. Have you are you fairing eith it difficulty wise?

    on 21 March 2020

    x
Yeah you can basically grind to easy mode in this game and the multiplayer aspect does take away a lot of the difficulty if needed, this game is pretty chill compared to Sekiro imo.If you tried nioh on the demo then yes the demo is far more difficult then the actual game because they set you up against a boss you are not geared for.
Yeah the controller does make me deep dive into my death or makes me miss when i'm using my bow or gun but i can manage it,it is much harder to play with a drifting controller on sekiro as that caused me so much fails and slow reactions.

Watching The 7 deadly sins on netflix and omg this show has some sexist aproach to women, the princess gets randomly groped by the hero and has a pornbody/clothes just like the giant friendly girl that is also acting obsessive over the hero, and the only villian girl that her her face shown last episode i watched got her armor taken off by the dude she wanted to stop from leaving the prison. And piggy gets all the abuse :( But if i'm not cringing about these things i can still see some enjoyable aspects behind its shallowness, aside of that i would feel ashamed watching this with my sisters or female friends in the room. :p

You know what the one of the main problems for some is with girl power in movies imo, that before a movie is even out the focus has to be put on that like it is all it has to offer so when it is out some people go hyperfocus on the female empowerment aspect only, and directors/actors are also guilthy of this because they can not help themselves making statements on twitter about gender politics that will mostly just apeal to a small group that notices it but will get overblown by critics.
Links with feminism will get fastly made and these days people have seen a lot of bad examples of it that get in the spotlight to be instantly put off by something that is not even lightly touching the toxic part of it.

    Am i making sense?:p

    x
Do not mind the grammatical errors please, sucks these can't be edited.

    on 16 February 2020

    x
I think so, yeah. I mean I consider myself to be a feminist, and I'm capable of distinguishing between, you know, sincere conviction about the struggles that women often face in life (or have faced, or whatever applies) on the one hand and just lazily pandering to women on the theory that doing so is a money-maker in today's world. That distinction I can grasp. I mean I don't enjoy obviously superficial, canned lines and whatnot better than anyone else does.

But there is also a reason why female empowerment is a relatively fashionable theme in filmmaking at the moment (whether or not it's always well-executed) and that's because the culture broadly is clearly having something of a feminist moment right now, the origins of which can be easily traced to the election of the current U.S. president. It's not a coincidence that the immediate public reaction to that was the largest demonstration in American history and that it was specifically known as the Women's March.

Whether one was a big fan of Hillary Clinton's or not, a lot of women (myself included) find it very depressing that she was defeated by a clearly unqualified guy who was caught admitting to sexual assault shortly before his victory. The guy isn't a sexist, he's a cartoon. That felt personal even if many Trump supporters didn't have any such intention. It's just obvious that this moment in "gender" politics is very much a reaction to that development. It's in this context that movies about girls and women have begun to outsell movies about boys and men. Along with that comes both the good and the bad.

    on 16 February 2020

    x
As a European seeing how the American public can behave in this limited view i got on it ,it can be a bit irritating.Tribalism, duality and the inbetweens do not speak out that much while truth is mostly never one of the extremes.Feminism is not really a thing here where i live and i do not think actual groups of feminist activists do exist here,i have been searching for them out of curiousity but to no avail. The actual few that called themselves that that i met were just pure haters,i remember me making fun at my sister when i was a kid cause yeah we just constantly did that to eachother as siblings and being treated that whole day as shit by a grown woman because she thought i was cruell to my sister.I grew up mostly with women as i had no brothers and i acknowledge there were certain unconcious genderroles put upon us although to this day i'm certain it also must be partly instinctive and genetic to feel the need to protect as a male i assume and partly social culture and traditions. But i did never grow up thinking that one was above another in a way and that goes way back.

I find that good movies with women or men have mostly been doing well,as long as there is something to enjoy about it then people will watch like the first few alien movies or terminators, badass women right there . When a movie want to sell itself when the focus on the gender takes away from the plot and when it treats an audience like it needs to give a lecture then i might have a problem with it.
Lectures arent always a negative but people want something behind it too.

My problem with American elections/presidents is mostly that dinosaurs get being put in the front to vote on,always so much traditional candidates instead of younger and modern people.

Hey, might you happen to be British by chance, if I may ask?

    on 18 February 2020

    x
Belgian, but moved to the Netherlands some years ago and still work in Belgium.

    on 18 February 2020

    x
Aaaah. I asked because you were talking about your experience with the women's movement in your area and the composition of the feminist movement is different in different countries. Most of the feminist thought leaders with whom I'm inclined to agree are British ones at present. I'm also an avid reader of the Canadian blog/site Feminist Current, which offers an unorthodox take on a lot of women's issues. I'm not very familiar with what may be going on in Belgium, I'm afraid.

Anyway, there are a lot of reasons I consider myself a feminist. A lot of the women I work with, and also just a lot of my female family members (including myself personally) are survivors of horrible physical and sexual abuse and are motivated in part by those experiences, and just by feeling demeaned and ignored a lot by society in everyday life. It's a very male-dominated culture. I also had a very lively feminist aunt who I kind of looked up to. And also, honestly, the treatment of women in gaming in the last decade in particular (social movements like #GamerGate and #NotYourShield) has also reinforced my sentiments.

I find the concept of gender roles preposterous. I mean, being a lesbian, I don't understand how the proponents of such ideas square them with the simple existence of lesbian relationships, which by definition oblige women to perform all social roles. Same principle for same-sex relationships between men. How are such relationships even possible if men are just born to be breadwinners and women to be domestic caretakers; if it's really that simple? I don't know. That doesn't make any sense to me.

    on 19 February 2020

    x
Genderroles(outside of what is inprinted in our genes) come down to parenting,if i would have or when i have a child i would find it important to focus on its happiness and how
i can steer that in the right direction so it has the ability to learn and grow without much worries and not forcing it into the mold i was forced in,wanting to cry as a boy but not being able to do it because that would look weak feels very lonely because none will know how you actually feel about things and you will never get support when being sad or hurt.Sadly some men will take that as the way to raise kids and so that cycle goes on with seemingly coldhearted men that cannot express what they feel.
Today that has absolutely changed a lot and new children are raised more free and careless and maybe a bit spoiled :p
Although it is hard to compare my own experience growing up as a child to others because i was a rare one.
Women being caretakers or not,it is about what someone wants to do and none should do something just because it is the norm and i have a big problem with new wave feminists that tell other women how they should act and feel.
I do respect the oldstyle British intelligent feminists but some people can not differentiate between those ones and those that just hate.
Also the male gender had power in the past but that was mostly just a select group standing above the poor,no normal men those days had any say, when people got a right to vote it was only for the richest and not for the lower earning people,so men and women couldnt vote only upper class.
I do not know enough about gamergate, well just many conflicting things that makes me unable to decide what it actually was about, some horrible male figures are involved and on the other side you got some horrible females so yeah.

Did read The Outsider from Stephen King and is was very dissapointing. It reads like he already had a contract with netflix before writing the book and it resulted into 500 pages of nothingness + 2 or 3 moments of suspense and everything inbetween streeeeeetched out, ideal to adapt into a series i would say.
