Sorry I never got back to you on the health care debate we had going. My father had to get a liver transplant and was using Medicare so it got a bit too close to home. Thanks for the interesting talks though! I miss you!

Unless the costs are somehow brought under control the entire system is on its way to completely spiraling out. On the current path in a century or so health care will only be for the wealthiest which is a serious problem, and it starts at the core of our health care system.
More to the point though, what good is the medical industry if it can't keep costs under control? If cutting edge tech excludes millions of potential Americans then what good has really come from the system? Cost increasing at even 5 times the rate of inflation adds up extremely fast, and we are already twenty years into this cycle. Wages for the middle class have been pretty static over that time

The bil is likely to be too high to reasonably afford, and the penalty will be a hit to a (probably) terrible credit score that never affects the person. Almost no one I know here who would qualify as poor has health insurance of any kind. This includes the majority of my family and friends. There is also a great fear when working at a job that offers health insurance of any kind due to the infrequency it is offered.
