I donâ€™t understand why many want Sony to buy Square. Because it would be easy perhaps? The problem is that the vast majority of Squareâ€™s game sales are already PlayStation players, and Sony already has extensive exclusivity deals in place. Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free, as they say.
1) Back catalogue for Square, Enix, Taito, Eidos and Crystal Dynamics games.
2) FF14 is probably the only in vogue MMO atm. And looks to be for the at least the next 5 - 10 years.
3) Eidos and CD can easily fall into the Sony-esque dev structure.
4) Marvel GotG IP.
5) Ensure this content remains on PS.
I agree that there are probably better choices, like Capcom, but I think SE can be a valuable asset nonetheless.
