What if "ending the year on a high note" is a multiplayer beta for Infinite? Unlikely I'm sure, but we know the multiplayer is pretty much done at this point, it's just the poor singleplayer graphics that is holding release back. 

That'd be good too, not sure how likely it is but it would be perfect, make it open to everyone, run the beta until campaign launch, will solve the lack of games issue for early 2021.
