The Titanic is actually a hilariously apt metaphor for how Democrats and Republicans work.
To prevent collision Republicans would rather melt all icebergs than ever slow down, while the Democrats would rather choose a different route far away from any icebergs. One of those policies is clearly superior to the other. And when the ship crashed the Republicans will blame the Democrats for not letting them melt enough icebergs.
In this metaphor the icebergs are both the US population and literal icebergs.

That's one side of the coin. The Rep outlook is more along the lines of the movie itself. Every side has their own viewpoint and to each their own.
