Then you might wither want to say shipped + digital or say sold. Otherwise you get misleading statements like you made earlier that run counter to your intended point. |
No. Thats what the industry uses. Every publishers report on shipments includes digital sales.

In spite of the Japanese market being larger.
I guess? In Japan the PS4 sold 8 million on the back of Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy. When all it had was Western games it struggled. What moved PS4s in South Korea? Malaysia? Singapore? They don't really care about Dragon Quest. So far we've completely ignored the impact of PSN discounts as well. Maybe that increased sales in Japan in particular and we're looking at something closer to 500k, or it made the game particularly attractive in other markets that are more price conscious? |
Such conclusions can simply not be made without any data.
For sure PSN discounts can lead to bigger digital skews. The entire point was, digital is big and Japanese charts do not show it at all, hence why you have games like GOW, TLOU, RDR, Nier selling 1 million+ or AC7 selling 500k+ but physical sales don't even show a half of that in Japan.
