And it's on track to sell considerably less lifetime.

Do tell me how much you expect the ps4 and ps5 to sell lifetime.

LMAO, a 5-7% decline is somehow considerably less. Guess SW will have a catastrophic decline then.

Already told you. 9.5 million+ for PS4 and 9-10 million for PS5.

Let's hear your joke of a prediction.

PS4 sold 6k this week despite a big release.

PS3 sold 15k-20k per week same period (so February 2013, not November 2012 where the alignement is right now) at that age. It didn't even reach <10k until June, less then half a year before the launch of the PS4.

In other words, what the PS4 is now selling in 3 weeks is what the PS3 was still selling on a weekly basis. PS3 will catch up very fast. Especially since it still has to get it's holiday period, where the PS4 fizzled out apart from when they slashed the price by half... and even that was underwhelming.

So GOW didn’t sell a million in japan, it sold a million in Asia. That’s way different. Idk if you remember the media create sales for GOW, but they were not that good. It would need an insane digital ratio to past a million in japan.

Japan as a market for PS4 is far larger than all other Asian markets combined. The idea that it sold 200k in Japan but 800k in markets far smaller is laughable (PS4 sold 1.5 million in China after 3 years, 600k in SK after 2 years).

Media Create does no reporting on digital. PS4 avg digital is 40%. There have been cases in Japan where games have massive digital ratios (MHW, TLoU, Minecraft etc).

TLoU remastered has shipped 1 million+ in 2018, yet MC has the game at 68k.

@bolded: That was true 15 years ago. Nowadays? Not so much anymore. Or where do you think all those "Other" sales are coming from? Just look at this week's sales: PS4 sold only 6k in Japan - but 24k in Asia. Asia has been a bigger market for the console than Japan for about this entire console generation.

@underlined: Find the error. To get from 200k to a million, PS4 would have needed a much larger digital ratio of at least 80% of the sales, or 4 times the physical sales to reach a million.

Finally, most of those western axed games that you listed do not interest Japanese players much. As such they really don't do much in Japan.

So unless something really major happens, PS5 only has the potential to reach about 8M in Japan.
