As the title already states, this is NPD's life to date ranking at the end of the May 2019 tracking period based on revenue. Worth noting is that Bethesda does not share its digital sales, so if someone's looking for Skyrim, that would be part of the reason why it's not in the top 10.

It's great to see Nintendo leading the pack of third party game sales. While Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was developed and published by Ubisoft, it should go without saying that the Mario IP is pulling the weight.

Overall, it's a healthy list that bodes well for the future because the most important third party IPs for Switch happen to be games that aren't going to go away because of the upcoming launches of the PS5 and next Xbox. It's a commonly used argument that Switch sales will be negatively affected by the arrival of new consoles, but there's no sales data to back that up. Those games that are allegedly too important to lose don't sell enough to be considered important.

Crash Bandicoot is in second place on the revenue chart despite its lower price tag, so that's an impressive result. Ports of old games like Diablo III don't pose a technical hurdle and it has been a lucrative business throughout the history of portable consoles to make classics playable anywhere, so such ports can be expected to keep coming. Just Dance and LEGO games have been mainstays on Nintendo consoles since a while. Worth noting is that sales have increased for Just Dance 2019 while the same doesn't hold true for the licensed sports games from Take Two and EA, so the potential loss of such sports titles wouldn't have a notable impact on Switch hardware sales.

A question mark remains for Monster Hunter because of a rumor that Sony has paid Capcom to keep new Monster Hunter games away from Switch. If that rumor is false, it will be only a matter of time until more MH is coming to Switch because selling MH on all platforms means more money.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.
