But that's liek comparing apples to oranges. Like a pastor making a church better does have an affect on the church goers but not to the magnitude that a good economy will. Some soldiers find it hard to find jobs after they have served so a good economy and low unemployment benefits them a lot.

How about this:

Imagine your dad was a police officer who died protecting the church.

Imagine during the eulogy, the pastor briefly mentioned your dad, then spent most of his time talking about how well the church was doing, how the church staff was making more money than they ever had.

Don't forget: The pastor is doing this for the purpose self aggrandizement because he's a narcissistic sociopath, and a dumb, dumb, DUMB, shit-for-brains moron. The fact that the church has been prosperous recently is incidental, and actually has nothing to do with him. He always takes undue credit though. His job necessitates public speaking, but he is a poor orator, with a command of the English language that could be equated to that of a middle-schooler who takes the "special" classes. Also a liar. And hypocrite. And conman. Who cheats on his wife. His THIRD wife. Right after she gave birth. Often talks about how hot his daughter is. He would like to date her. If only she wasn't his daughter. There's a novella worth of character traits I could apply to this hypothetical pastor. I don't even think he believes in Jesus.
