Summary for April 2018

The second monthly update is less elaborate than the first, but there's still something new. Remember that this thread is very dependent on your continued participation.

The Google spreadsheet with all collected data is here.

Total Stats

11 new members bring the total count to 69. Milestones that were crossed this month:

First Party - Over 400 total games, over 300 physical games.
Third Party - Over 600 total games.
All Games - Over 1,000 total games, over 500 physical games, over 500 digital games.

The overall tie ratio drops by half a game because almost all of the new members own fewer than 16 games so far. The reason why the first party tie ratio is less affected is because gamers buy the best games first, so there's actually nothing surprising about this fact. If you wonder why the overall tie ratio isn't exactly what first party tie ratio and third party tie ratio add up to, it's because the overall tie ratio is calculated from overall stats and not a mere addition of the breakdown tie ratios, so rounding can lead to a tiny discrepancy.

First Party Game Rankings

In order to spice up the table a bit, I added more colors to visualize important things.

Green - Grew its Total and moved up in the rankings.
Light green - Grew its Total, but remained in the same position.
Orange - Stagnant in both Total and position.
Light red - Grew its Total, but moved down in the rankings.
Red - Stagnant in Total and moved down in the rankings.
Yellow - New entry to the chart.

16 NEW Nintendo Labo: Toy-Con 01 Variety Kit 2 2 - 100 3
17 NEW Arcade Archives: Punch-Out!! 1 - 1 - 1

Super Mario Odyssey breaks the tie with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at the top, Pokken Tournament DX passes Picross S.

Arcade Archives: Punch-Out!! is unlikely to get much attention, because not even a big name like Vs. Super Mario Bros. has any traction. Nintendo Labo released late in April (particularly in Europe) and only Toy-Con 01 Variety Kit manages to chart this month, but there is at least limited potential for growth; a top 10 position is improbable, but small and steady gains are doable.

The releases of May are Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, two enhanced ports of Wii U games that should have higher debuts than Nintendo Labo as far as this forum is concerned.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.
