Joining the league:
To join the VGChartz Gamerscore League you must have been a member of VGC for at least 1 month and have over 50 posts. You will also need to create an account on trueachievements (henceforth refered to as TA), if you don't have one already, and request an invite to the new league here: https://www.trueachievements.com/leaderboard.aspx?leaderboardid=7543

Updates:
The league will be updated monthly, within 3 days of the end of each month. Tracking for each month ends at 0:00 EST (UTC-5), without exception. Tracking will begin next month, March 2017.

Scoring:
This may change slightly, depending on how many people participate.

To start, each month the people with the top 9 gamerscores will receive 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, and 2 points respectively. Everyone that earns at least some gamerscore will receive a minimum of 1 point.

The same top 9 point distribution will be applied to those with the highest TA points for the month, and the 10th ranked person will receive 1 point. There are no minimum points for participation here.

Furthermore, all games that have been released since February this year, 2017, and have been played by at least 3 members will have a platinum available. To earn a Platinum for a game a user must have at least 750 GS in that game and have the highest/joint highest GS in that game. Holding a platinum will be worth 5 points per retail game (anything with a physical release), and 3 per digital only release. To make things more interesting, if/when the first person reaches 1000 GS on any game under these guidelines, he/she will get double the regular platinum points, meaning 10 for full retail games, and 6 for digital only. Everyone who reaches 1000GS after that point can only attain, or get back to, the regular 5, and 3 points respectively. Tracking will not be retroactive, so platinums you may have acquired before the start of this league do not count.

Update: Moving forward, there will be two separate scoring tallies for platinums. All platinumed games released in the current year, will earn the participant bonus points towards their monthly/yearly totals, just as they initially did. These points are still scored as outlined above.

In addition to this, a new scoring table will be added to rank all participants by the total platinums earned since the initial founding of the league, with the stipulation that only games released since February of 2017 are eligible. When exactly you earn these platinums is irrelevant. As long as you maintain them, they will count towards your ranking. The scoring system for this table will be consistent with the scoring already employed by the GS and TA categories, and like the GS category, as long as you maintain at least one Platinum in an eligible game, you will always receive at least one point.

Since it's not unlikely there may be several ties in regards to how many participants have earned a certain amount of platinums, the following tie breakers will apply to the rankings:

1. A tie between two participants will always favor the one who has earned more platinums in games with a physical release.

2. If the first criteria does not resolve the tie, the participant who has the highest total GS across the platinumed games will be favored.

3. If the second criteria still doesn't resolve the tie, the participant with the highest total TA across the platinumed games will be favored.

4. If none of the above resolve the tie, the person who earned their latest platinum the earliest will be favored

To simplify, the new overall scoring will consist of the following:

GS Ranking + TA Ranking + Plat Ranking + New (current year) Plats

Special thanks to Kapi, for running the previous VGC Gamerscore League, and providing the baseline for this one. Also thanks to Ryu for polling the Xbox community on whether or not they wanted to see the Gamerscore League return at all, and of course thanks to all of you who are wanting to participate for your interest, and any ideas you have sent my way, or may send my way in the future.
