I previously said Super Meat Boy was the definitive platformer because it's the perfect generic one. Well, Tropical Freeze is pretty much the perfect unique one. Throughout its six worlds, this game has a pretty large amount of levels, and each and every one of them is extremely well designed, has some incredible music, looks amazing and challenges the player in an awesome way - but more so than anything, in every single one of these aspects, all of the levels feel very unique. While Returns was a pretty solid entry in the franchise, it might have been a bit restricted by trying to replicate the world and feel of the 1990's entries (especially the first one), but now in Tropical Freeze, it really feels that Retro Studios finally went crazy with their creativity and the end result was an absolute masterpiece.
