The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

GameCube / Nintendo / 2002
Guessed by BraLoD

Though it is one of the most flawed, this game is also one of the best Zelda games ever. I don't really know how it does it - The Wind Waker has poor dungeons, mediocre bosses, a tedious Triforce quest near the end, sailing gets a bit boring after a while, but somehow it just all clicks together in a way that makes all of those flaws, which in another game could have been major issues, minor nitpicks. Overall, this was just a fantastic adventure through a beautiful and very atmospheric world and one of the best stories in Zelda games so far. The soundtrack was absolutely amazing and the combat was tight and fun even if the bosses weren't very inventive. But again, it gets hard to really understand the qualities of The Wind Waker when breaking it down in pieces like that - when looking at the overall product, it's just a fantastic game.
