the scary part is while the Wii is by far the strongest console on the market, the PlayStation does still have a stronger brand name. I still hear "I;m going to play my PlayStation." I never really hear another console in that phrase. Its either PlayStation or just Video Games.

This goes in cycles.

First, everything was Atari (and it played "tapes" -- even though the systems were cartridge-based (for the most part). This is not surprising as the 2600 still has sold more than Xbox 360 and PS3 and outsold the Xbox, GC, DC Saturn, and Genesis.

Then, everything was Nintendo. For a while it just about really was (the NES era).   It stayed that way, even when the Genesis was more popular.

Then it became Playstation -- because Sony took over video games.

Right now though, I have never heard anyone refer to a Wii as a Playstation (in the generic). Maybe people are becoming more educated.

(As for handhelds, it's a Gameboy or a DS -- and sometimes a DS is called a Gameboy).

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
