Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Staring into the abyss of a world where Nintendo has no games scheduled for release. Edit: The Time of Darkness Has Arrived

I think what the OP is trying to get across is that something is usually announced for PS4, even if it doesn't have a release date or is 5 years in the future. Example is Naughty Dog alone:

TLOU: Announced Dec 2011, released June 2013

Uncharted 4: Announced Nov 2013, released May 2016

TLOU II: Announced Dec 2016, releasing May 2020

Other games from ND or Sony studios fill in the gaps, so there is always a big game to look out for.

While for Switch, we have no idea what is coming 2020, 2021, 2022 etc.

BOTW2, Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 are coming. That's at least 3 big ones to look forward to.

Not a complete void then!

Good chance to catch up on that backlog.

It's almost like Nintendo never really changed.

Mario and Tingle released coronavirus, this should be enough for the rest of the year.

TGS, Third Grade Shooter: brand new genre invented by Kevin Butler exclusively for Natal WiiToo Kinect. PEW! PEW-PEW-PEW!

That's what I'm doing right now. Finishing up on Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore. After that game, I'll play Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Bayonetta 1 and Vanquish on my PS4 Pro. :)

meh same ole Nintendo

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

Yeah, that's what concerns me. Based on trends, we'll get about 3-4 more 1st-party games (not including ports or remakes) this year. That means at least a few are unannounced. There's about 9 months (and some change) left in the year. If any of those titles come out before October, they're really waiting until the last minute to reveal them. Most 1st-party Nintendo games get announced 6 months or more in advance.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 151 million (was 73, then 96, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 57 million (was 60 million, then 67 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

There are a ton of games scheduled to come out in the near future. I am unsure why people keep wanting to pretend that Nintendo published games are the only games on Switch, and if they have not announced them they don’t exist.

Nintendo news channels and Eshop have been almost perpetually vibrant since late-2017.

I don’t have the statistics, but I wonder if Nintendo keeping quieter about their future games has helped sales of thirds party titles?

It’s probable, based on sales data from Nintendo and Japanese sources that well in excess of 1/3rd of the total volume of software sales on Switch occurred in the last 6 months.
