Forums - Gaming Discussion - If all PlayStation/Xbox games were on PC day 1, would you still buy a console?

If console exclusives disappeared, would you still buy a console?

Yes, consoles still have benefits 85 65.89%

No, there'd be no point in having a console 44 34.11%

Total:129

Consoles are still basically plug and play and this will always be priority.

Then by that logic GamePass in itself becomes a system seller the more games MS releases. Which would have a compounding effect with lower budget titles like Bleeding Edge and Grounded with higher budget titles like Hellblade 2 and Halo Infinite. I mean it’s already a killer deal but I see it going to the next level once MSs studios really start pumping the games out.

But even then there will always be people that stick to physical games. I wouldn’t call a console only gamer a “small subset”. Maybe this gen you’d be right with Xbox 1st party releases being spaced out too much but this year alone has a lot of MS 1st party releases. And looks like the trend will continue.

Gamepass also available on PC wouldn't be a system seller for XSX.

And sure many will stick to physical (I buy all relevant games physical), I'm not calling console only a small subset, but a console owner that really wants to play Xbox exclusives are a smaller subset, just look at the sales of their exclusives this gen, FM, Gears and Halo all had severe drop compared to last gen.

Your right it isn’t, as it’s supposed to be meant to take from the Steam user base (not drop it but use GP in addition). Again this is a market that doesn’t plan to own a Xbox so it’s just MS adapting and marketing Xbox as A service and not a console.

Ill admit that this is all theory because Xbox’s studios are only beginning to show what they are working on. But the ones that did release...that’s just good old fashioned market share talking. During the 360 days Xbox exclusives sold amazing and many PS3 exclusives sold horribly by comparison. Killzone 2 for all its praise only sold what Halo 3 did in its opening month. Halo 3 ODST sold as much as Uncharted 2.

Point being console market share, especially in the west for western games will always be the first second and third reason for a games sales legs. Call me a optimist because the next Xbox isn’t repeating the same mistakes as 2013 Xbox One.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I won't enter the beated marketshare discussion, we have plenty of examples of same IP selling more with smaller audience and less with bigger audience plus almost no game having a linear scale up with marketshare, besides the fact that if the games are truly system sellers they are the ones that push the system not the other way around.

Well my answer is simple , i don't want to run 400 watt TDP GPU only to play 2D and and yes i will calle it 13 teraflop of GPu.

A 2D title will likely not fully engage the SoC, thus the system power is likely to scale downwards to save on power consumption.

HollyGamer said:

Yes 13 teraflop, like it or not you need to accept teraflop is still exist.

Peoples understanding of teraflops is what is pointless bullshit, not that Teraflops does/doesn't exist.

It's like people using bits to assert that one console was better than the other when that was also false... A 32bit console can be better than a 64-bit or 128-bit console.

Same with Teraflops, a 10 Teraflop GPU can be faster than a 15 Teraflop GPU.

Also for small factor and form factor, i prefer putting my small, simple PS4 and slime PS4 in front of TV rather than my PC desktop. Which is very loud and generate a lot of Heat. I also use to play with my friend local gaming with my cousin. I dont want to bring PC also it has many work and job related content that i dont want to share to my family. And keeping in side my room.

You can build a PC that is smaller, quieter, more aesthetically pleasing, more energy efficient than a PS4, the PC isn't the problem here.

What if I told you that you can also keep your work, job and other crap off said PC as well and leave it all on another PC? ;)

if all ps5 games are on pc then il be skipping a console im afraid. the manufacturers need to get as many consoles out in peoples hands as they play the most and spend the most

Linus tried this a few months back. Pretty sure they had to cut a billion corners, and go way overbudget. But then again I haven't watched the video in a long time. Anyway...

I don't like PC for the cost of it in Brazil compared to buying console in grey market.

But as I said if Sony exclusives were in PC I would save a lot of money building one.

I can understand people complain about heat, convenience and aesthetic. But the solution is as simple as building your tower, putting in one corner of your room and never looking at it again, use a controller to play and for like 30s a day use KB+M to open the application. Sure one more wireless device in the couch can add up to the disorganization but that is such a small problem.

Absolutly not! PC are more expensive than consoles on the hardware side, but as time goes you pay no subs. for online and games are less expesive, you get the money bak easy. Also pc can do many things other than gaming, you have a ecosystem that you can mod and make hundreds of cool things, including work stuff, that consoles probably will never have since they are so very "especialized for gaming"...
No exclusives ( or at least time exclusives)= dead console whit no use for me, Imho.

Cost wasn't part of the original argument, so it is pointless to try and shift the goal post. (I.E. Change the argument.)

They didn't cut corners in that video, you might need to point them out... That rig would shit all over the Playstation 4.

That is fair enough. Games are entirely down to personal taste overall, makes sense to go with the platform with the games you find enjoyable to play irrespective of costs.
