PS4 2017 had a great year, but a pretty weak holiday season. Switch will beat PS4 2017 in the end for sure due to this, but January through October, PS4 would be very competitive.

Yeah, but Switch 2019 was already better than PS4 2017. And as we see, 2020 is very promising to be even better. Would be interesting to compare with Wii and PS2 best years. I don’t have the numbers, but I think both these consoles had some insane numbers in some point of their lifetime. Especially PS2

Do we have any weekly numbers of the PS2 or just by quarters?

If not, that would only leave us with the Wii, and I wanted to give the Switch some competition from another side. DS was too big during it's heyday to pull against the Switch, which really just left me with the PS4's best year.

Damn, Switch and PS4 are really dusting Xbox One. 3 and 4 times the sales. People keep saying Switch isn’t in competition with the other two but are they sure it’s not Xbox One that’s not in competition with the other two?

Huh, what?

It's mostly correct for PS4 (well, 3.6 times Xbox One) but Switch is over 7.1x times the sales for Xbox One.

Looks like Xbox one is not passing 50m

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

Which is the reason for the "huh, what?".

Iirc, PS2 had some great years, but nothing on the level of the Wii during its peak (or the NDS for that matter). PS2's strength was largely in its insane stamina and consistency, whilst the Wii had a short, but explosive, burst.

i really wish we had more detailed info on past generations tho

No Switch Japan 2019 vs 2020 thread this year?

Not this year. Rol takes care of that on the Famitsu threads.

Now that I'm home and have access to my laptop, the Week 3 Numbers have finally been posted.
The Switch remains above 300k, but we'll see if that remains the case next week. It is should still be comfortably ahead YoY. I expect it to build a considerable lead before Animal Crossing: New Horizons launches at the end of March.
The PS4 drops down to 156k, which is the lowest it has been in a loooong while. The Xbox One does a dismal 46k.

I know we are only on week 3, but if the systems keep selling at this rate then this is what sales look like for the year:

PS4 - 10.6m (~25% drop)
XB1 - 3.8m (~21% drop)
NSW - 26.7m (~32% increase)

PS4 and XB1 - That looks about right.

NSW - No way in hell. It has a very good chance to be up YoY, but not THAT much.
