How many subscribers do each service have?

You can frame it in that way, but one could easily frame it in another. The Mandalorian is THE launch show of Disney+, and it's likely that just about everyone who's subscribed to it already has probably watched at least a bit of the Mandalorian. For many, it will be the key reason they signed up to the service as early as they did. Netflix has tons more subscribers, of course, but to the vast majority of them, The Witcher is likely just another show that they may or may not get around to eventually.

Witcher surpassing Star Wars is a huge deal, Star Wars is the biggest IP in the world and everyone knows it, doesn't matter if Netflix has more subscribers.

Cough, Pokemon, Cough.

Sorry, put this in the wrong forum by accident. Could a mod move this to Movies discussion please, since we don't have a TV discussion forum.

I moved it for you :)

“[Disney] Pretty much only in the US”? Dude, are we a joke to you?

Anyway, means nothing, no official numbers and the time they tracked is disadvantageous for The Mandalorian.

Pokemon is first in terms of revenue, but I would be surprised if more people on the planet know what Pokemon is compared to how many know what Star Wars is. There's barely anyone in the US that hasn't watched at least one Star Wars movie, and based on the foreign box office I'm sure that many hundreds of millions more outside of the US have watched at least one. Star Wars lack of popularity in China hurts it for sure, since China is like 1.4 billion people, but I still think Star Wars might top Pokemon overall in terms of mindshare. We know that at least 1 billion people know what Pokemon is, because Pokemon Go passed 1 billion downloads.

Yeah, more people in the US have probably watched at least one SW film. It's a much easier entry price as well. Sadly...don't kill me...I've never watched even one Star Wars film. I once told my co-workers that I'd never really watched one and they all gasped in horror. It's just that I was surprised when I said SW was the biggest IP and someone told me it was Pokemon. I didn't even believe it.

I think more people know about Pokemon than Star Wars, especially in Asia which has the largest population. I suppose Asia= west in Star Wars vs Pokemon, so I guess the question is what do Africans and Middle East people know better Pokemon or Star Wars?

The biggest launch game of a console also sells less then a big game on a console with a fat installbase

Good. It's an excellent show from an excellent game based on a few excellent books.
