Forums - Sports Discussion - The NFL Thread 2019: The Kansas City Chiefs Win Super Bowl LIV

Who do you believe will have a stronger defense in 2020?

Patriots 2 66.67%

Steelers 1 33.33%

Total:3

Crazy about Luck. Guess the Colts are gonna get to find out just what they have in Brissett. He's shown himself to be a competent starter in the past, but is he capable of being a franchise QB? Let's see.

Anyway, I'm down for the predictions. Already in a couple of fantasy leagues, but if there's enough interest here then I'm down for that too.

Wasn't surprised about Luck. He ended up just like RG3 who came out same draft year. Hurt all the time. I'm surprised he didn't give up sooner.

It's honestly kind of amazing that Luck retired before RG3. If you had told me that back in 2014 I would've said you were crazy.

What team is RG3 on now?  Lol I thought he was gone already myself.  He must be a backup.

Ya, he's a back for the Ravens.

Luck retiring is crazy, but honestly I don’t think it is permanent. I think he will be back next year. That’s too much money to just walk away for good.

Also, go hawks!

His injury list is pretty extensive, and if he's been even remotely intelligent with his money (which I imagine he has), he should easily have enough to spend the rest of his life doing whatever he wants. For someone in his position, $20 million more or so doesn't mean a whole lot, especially if you're so hobbled you can't enjoy any of it.

He owes the Colts like 11-12 mil if he retires. Wonder if they’ll ask him to pay. Colts front office sucks. I’m so glad that cutting Peyton loose has bit them in the ass. Irsay deserves it.

It’s not 20 million more or so... it’s more like half a billion if he plays to 40.  Add in sponsors, commercials, and all that other extra stuff and it is even more.  That is a lot of money... if he moves on to something else then good for him, but I still think he will be back.  We will see.

There's no way he's playing until he's 40 with his list of injuries. Torn cartilage in ribs, partially torn abdomen, lacerated kidney, torn labrum, calf ankle of some sort, and at least one concussion. The guy's already missed 26 games in his career. Guys like Tom Brady and Drew Brees who have stayed relatively healthy could aim for something like that, but Luck would never make it that long, at least not without the quality of his play dropping sharply and turning into an even more zombiefied version of 2015 Peyton Manning.
