Forums - Gaming Discussion - Article: The Anomoly that is Gran Turismo vs Forza Motorsport

Here's what happened:

Sales2099 started writing this thread over an hour ago. In the hour that it took him to write this he got banned, so when he clicked submit the thread was created but the user appeared to be non-existant (as due to his ban, he was automatically signed out).

Actually makes sense for this to be sales2099 since hes banned atm.

hahaha and he's been posting since 1969.

I would have to say that Gran Turismo is still a more popular franchise and Sony still has more racing fans but the comparison is skewed by the fact that the output of Gran Turismo games this generation has been weak given that we may not see another full version released in this generation.

In the next generation expectation ought to even things up a little between the franchises as I doubt that anyone expected Forza to be as comparable to GT in this generation when they purchased their systems. GT looks relatively weaker because there hasn't been the opportunity for people to buy iterations of the franchise. The relative sales of these franchises are probably predicted base don the relative sales of the Xbox Next and PS4, if the PS4 sells 2:1 over the Xbox Next then I would expect the relative sales of GT to be >1.5:1 and vice versa. You do have to account for hardcore gamers who will own both systems are are attracted to the 'best'.

Tease.

It's not Sales2099's account.

It is Sales2099.

It doesn't show on his posts because he was logged out when he submitted the thread, so he shows up as a non-entity.

This has happened to me and Amp316 before. If you start a thread, log out in another window and then submit the thread in the window where you're still signed in, the thread shows up just like this (with an invisible author).

Not sure how you can say they are competitors when they aren't on the same systems.
No one buys the xbox for Forza.
Many many people bought PS for Gran Turismo.

With that said, well-written article. I very much agree that Forza has solidified its position as a quality racing game with a solid fanbase.

You have proof of this this?

I didn't realize Forza series was so much better and a class above GT series, according to Metacritic and combined average review rating from most recognized review sites. I didn't know GT was thought of that badly by most sites, is it really that bad?

...Couldn't resist a Turkish style comment.

Seriously though, interesting numbers there, I genuinely hadn't looked at them as a group.

For me, no matter what GT4 will be the best racing game ever made, didn't know it only did 89 on metacritc, I loved the soundtrack it was downright fantastic and had a massive selection of top notch music.

It also had one of the the coolest intros EVER in video game history that was rendered in real time with Dolby Digtal 5.1

Only played original Forza a couple of years after release and really didn't know what the fuss was about, it looked very ugly compared to GT4.

Do you have proof that anyone does? You don't prove that something doesn't happen, just like you don't prove that God doesn't exist. That's illogical. Show me some data that backs this and I will redact my statement.

No it's the other way round in this situation, because buying a console specifically for a game is something that has happened before.

Forza is a game and people have bought console for games before so it's likely someone has bought an Xbox 360 just to play Forza.

If data was provided I'd expect nothing short of a grovelling apology....pshhhh redact your statement indeed!

(so there!)
