Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nikkei Article on Cafe confirms control

Well damn. This sounds crap. Since Nikkei "confirmed" this rumour, I'm going to cautiously assume that picture of the controller was and is going to be rather accurate, the one which looks like a 360 controller with a screen in the middle.
E3 never looked so dire. Especially for Nintendo.

I would find it hard to believe that they would abandon motion controls so handily, so i doubt we'll get exactly what we've seen. It has to be some kind of hybrid

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

So, I´m starting to wonder just how expensive the controller will be..

??? A 3D Mario is a big deal. Just because it's not 2D means that Nintendo is focusing more on the gimmick? What.

There's also Mario Kart 3DS. And besides that there's OoT.

How long have you been here, Soriku? How often did I call you a silly kid, because you weren't able to grasp the most basic things? And yet, after all this time, you still have no clue.

A 3D Mario is not a big deal and it shows Nintendo's lack of business sense. If you want to sell hardware, then your biggest series must have absolute priority. You don't release second tier games (which 3D Mario is) and hope all goes well. It's better to be safe than sorry. You know how quickly third parties jump ship when it comes to Nintendo.

BS ROL! BS!  D=<

3D mario is not a big deal? Oh yeah, that must be why SMG 1 & 2 are the   games on Wii that people talk most about. Or why so many people are looking forward to see where they will take the next 3D Mario. Oh and both Galaxies sold about 8 to 10 mil respectively.

Just because they didn't sell as much as NSMBii, they're not worth it? You sound like those guys on the SeanMalstrom forum! They're fools! Fools I say! Don't be a fool too ROL!

im i the only one here who is excited to see this Cafe??? People cannot possibly think a controller is going to have the same capabilities as a damn portable gaming device??? that makes no sense, the controllers would cost 100 dollars, people have to buy at least one more of these things. If this was Sony or MS i would say yeah, they would do some greedy crap like that. but not Ninty. This is a evolution of the VMU/Pocketstation and i cant wait to see what it does, im not even caring about the specs of the system

Not read through the thread, so don't know if anyone already said this...

How much will one of these things cost? How will Nintendo go the "Everyone plays together" route, if controllers for the thing are so damn expensive?

Remember Zelda Four sword ? Or the Jaguar ? That's exactly the idea, integrating the controller in the game by making it versatile.

It's exactly the idea. At least, let's hope this time the developper will integrate it, or it will just be a gimmick for Nintendocentric games once again...

Personally, with the G15 on PC, I am quite used on having a secondary screen to look at during the game. Basic hud info can be displayed on the controller screen.

Also, it can be a very good move from ninty to sell two console hardware with one package... Somehow, the 3DS is a bit overlaping this strategy if you thing that way.

The 3DS is getting that 3D Mario game this year and we don't know what the Cafe's lineup but to think there won't be a SMB (maybe not exactly at launch but who knows, Cafe's still a year out) is ridiculous. Not sure what you're getting at.

Oh wow, that 3D Mario game. How exciting.

It's about priorities. It's insane that Nintendo plans to release 3D Mario before a Super Mario Bros. game. They are idiots.

For that reason I am doubtful that the launch lineup for N6 will include a really big game from Nintendo. They are probably trying to sell it on "Oh, look. Now we've got a touchscreen on our controller".

Remember who you are talking to...

Not to sound condescending, but outside of internet forums the Galaxy games are not the Wii games that "people talk most about."

It's not even close.

As to your last question, let me respond with a football analogy. Imagine your team has two QBs, Joe Montana and Donovan McNabb. If the season is just starting, why would you ever make McNabb your starter in lieu of Montana? You'd be crucified by the fans...

Great a screen on a console's controller, come on people think about how often you look at your controller, not often right? Hey the answer's never for me,

Yeah, that sounds like Nintendo really started to believe what the gaming industry was preaching all those years: That Nintendo's success lies in gimmicks, not the actual games.

Ya because controllers, screens, and portable gaming are all gimmicks. What the hell, we might as well get rid of gaming all together. Here we go with more gimmick talk about Nintendo....and the damned thing hasn't even been released yet. It's companies like Nintendo that drive imagination. Was the first analog stick on the N64 a gimmick? What about the Rumble Pack? Or what about the shoulder buttons on SNES? Everything we have in life starts from an idea, as a gimmick.

I'm so sick of these stupid "gimmick" and "doomed" words being thrown around. It's sad to see gaming turn out this way :(
