Maybe.

It doesn't really mean much looking for people with experience in related technologies.

Yes, but it's interesting because they happened to nab someone who just so happens to hold experience in those fields. There are many choices out there for Sony to choose from. Devs like these aren't akin to one Stephen Hawking, no, there are plenty of choices out there for Sony to choose from, but they just so happen to choose a dev with experience in those two specific fields.

A dev with those extra talents will likely be made use of, rather than "you're a dev like any other, do the mundane tasks".

Besides, why now do a full PC port of one game, at this time, and then magically hire a dev who just so happens to share talents with what stems from the very platform they are making this port to. I wouldn't chalk it entirely up to mere coincidence, that's not what you hire a dev with two extras under his belt for. If they are indeed planning to branch out further, then that dev is the perfect choice for the job.

I'm not one to chalk it up to coincidence, because let's be honest, I want and hope for the best for what is slowly transpiring, and I'm not one to toss it under a bus out of fear that some fanboys are going to lose a few exclusives. Let's be logical, why hire and waste someone with multiple talents, when you could simply scout and hire a person with only one specific talent you're after?. There have been plenty of times artists have come to working with animation studios in the past, that ended up being made use of with those multiple field experiences, hell, same goes for Voice actors too, who go on to become not only regular VA's, but directors and organisers too. Multiple talents do get made use of, if not now, somewhere down the road.

I dare to say that Sony's made a wise choice in acquiring this dev, because his talents will provide a boon in the future, going forward.
