Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Tecmo Koei Posts $20M loss. Blames wii

What are they talking about? Samurai Warriors 3 has sold in-line with similar musou games on the PS3 and PSP... and a $20 million loss chalked up to one game?

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

didnt devs say u can make a wii game with 5 million...and 360/ps3 were 20 million

All mousou games are in cecline. Dynasty and Samurai have fallen down. really they should try something new for a change!

well i can say one thing for sure, SW3 didn't cost $20 million to develop.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

It doesn't help if you have games like Dynasty Warriors (Gundam) /Warriors orochi on PS3/360 and then put this game on the Wii.... You create a fanbase of your games on the HD consoles and then you put SW on Wii....What to expect :s.

Going to the source and trying to have google translate, it says the main reason is "struggling Onraigemu" with poor sales of Samurai Warriors 3 as a secondary reason.  Anyways, based on the translation (not that computers can be trusted for such things), no where did I see the Wii being blamed by the publisher, only by the article putting words in the publisher's mouth...

Whis is Onraigemu?

wait a minute didn't samurai warriors 2 sell only 330k in japan? why are they complaining? i don't get it.

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Well clearly they need to make HD console games instead of Wii games so we'll might find out.
