Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Just finished my first Mass Effect 2 playthrough (no spoilers)

9.9/10

This game is as close to usurping Ocarina of Time as my favourite game ever as any title is likely to get.  It was truly amazing.  There was all of one or two tiny kinks in any otherwise floorless game that just stopped it from being that ten out of ten title I remember OoT to be.  Amongst these was resource collection (though VASTLY improved from the first game) still taking just a TINY bit too long.  Also, I didn't like the ending quite as much as the first.  No less epic, I was just very partial to the ending location of the first title, it provided an amazing backdrop this game didn't quite match.

But other than that just about everything has improved.

Besides that, the ending was better.  I am going to play it through a couple more times, but I am quite sure the endings will vary enormously.

Graphics are better.

The story is more fleshed out.

Save game integration was unparalleled.

The characters have a depth surpassing the first game (which had characters that were about as well fleshed out as any others in video game history).

It was a truly, STUNNING game.

Now it is 5am, I have barely slept for four days.  My play-time was over 40 hours.

Goodnight.

Did you install to HDD? We timed a few loads on the first night ( couldnt be arsed after that ). Longest load from HDD was roughly 14 secs. Without was 26!

Looks like it's optimized for HDD installing. I thought the load times were fantastic. Then again I have played all my playthrough on HDD.

I would not have entered if you hadn't said there were no spoilers.

I'm really into the game, going on 3 days now, taking my sweet ass time.

I have a question though: if you install disc one and leave disc two in (without install) would you still need to swap discs?

Anyway the game is awesome. Zaeed, the salarian, and grunt are some of my favorites. Can't forget tali either. Hell, I like all of the characters. Except Jack, what a bitch. The characters have alot more personality this time around. It's makes the old ones in the last game seem like s piece of cardboard.

I wonder if I'll see Conrad verner.. I guess time will tell, lol.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... Want me to tell you?

I beat it as well....Just a few hours ago.

34 hours, completed probably 95% of all available quests/scanning areas. Did not upgrade all weapons as I didn't need them (upgraded just about everything else). Got 45/51 achievements on my first runthrough. Achievements are a lot easier.

I had sex with Tali, of course. What ME2 player hasn't picked her for the first option?

I do have a question for someone that can answer it:

How do you get all people to survive the suicide mission? That is the only achievement I failed at on my runthrough (sans class-specific powers). I had one guy die on the Collector homeworld due to getting nailed with a rocket when the door closes. I assume that its because I picked the wrong person?

Overall, fantastic game. I did not like the 'twist' at the end. Compared to ME1, it was a big letdown. Kind of stupid and did not make sense vs. Mass Effect 1. However, lead-in for Mass Effect 3 was incredible. Only 2 more years!

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

In hindsight I think the Mass Effect series will be seen as the number one game and franchise from this generation.

Just speculating here since I've only played 1 hour of the first one. ^^

yes you do.. I was asked to insert disc 2 when I started jacob's mission

conrad the obsessive shephard fan ???

I'm really liking this a lot too but I miss the equipment/weapon screens and the mako from the first game... plus some of the graphical glitches that pop up now and then bring down the enjoyment somewhat.. and ... some of those boss battles just piss me off when you get thrown right into the deep end and end up dying
