Oh it'll happen. Quote me.

There ya go NYANKS, I'm quoting you. Good call.

Now quoting darth the OP:

IS THIS POSSIBLE

I don't think its'll happen personally, SONY has to market it!!!

Having fun here.

GreyianStorm:

I believe it can, and will, reach 2.5 million in lifetime sales, and I think it will probably do it by June-August of 2010. I'd prefer if no-one quoted me on that though (unless I get it right )

I'm quotin' ya all right. You didn't get it right, but I doubt you thought you'd be this side of wrong

In my defense, I think I did say in BHR-3's thread, that it would reach 2 million by the end of 2009. I just didn't expect its legs to still be *this* strong, seeing as how high the sales in the first 2 or 3 weeks were. I think now, that Uncharted 2 will end up near 4 million, but with heavy bundling it could even go further (5 million perhaps)?

of course they did, its almost at 3 million.

Of course

From what I know developers get $20 or $30 off a $60 game. So let's say they make $25 off each game, that's 3.78 million X 25 = 94 million. The game wouldn't cost more then 30 million IMO, they made Uncharted 2 really fast (around 1 year). So they made big profit, and this game isn't going to stop at 3 million either, I'd say it can get close to 4 million.

Also not sure what ODST has to do with Uncharted 2 making profit?

A very nice profit, made clearer by the fact that Nolan North is already working on the sequel

I remember that retailers usually receive $7-8 for every game sold, and Sony $-7$10, and $1-2 for royalties(ex. Fifa) and maybe $2-3 for production and shipment. Basically the $60 go to Developer + Publisher + Sony + Retailer + Others costs.

ND is a Sony company, and Sony is also the publisher of the game, and Sony don`t have to pay BRD royalties(i believe) and must be the manufacturer of all BRD burner machines.

So i think that the minimum that Sony gets from the game is $45. Maybe even $50.

But i can be very wrong. This all is just speculation.

Its sold close to 3 million, and the rumored budget was 20 million. So probably, but who know.

If they really only spent 20 million then it makes the game even more impressive.

If 2.5M of those sales brought in about 30$ on average then that's 75M$ revenue. The game cost 20M to develop and I doubt they paid more than $20M dollars in marketting if SONY's entire Eu Christmas marketing budget was $115M [Think that was the number that was stated].

I'm certain they made a healthy profit.

If those numbers are true then Sony spend less money on marketing during Christmas in the EU then Activision/Blizzard spend maketing MW2 which had a rumored add budget of 200 million.

If its sold about 3mln and budget was 20mln then yes. Lets count:
3mln x 30F (lowest price i ever seen U2 in UK) = 90mln pounds. 90mln - 20mln = 70mln.

70mln - not bad :)

You cant take the lowest price in UK and assume this is world wide the price. A lot of the games are sold to full price in the first two months. And in Euro countries the game sells for 50 Euro still thats 45 Pounds. All people I know have bought it for 55-60 Euros/50-53 pounds. In the first 8 weeks we can assume the game sold at full price. 50 Dollar in US 35-40 pounds in UK 5000-6000 Yen in Japan and 50-60 Euro in rest Eu. In the first 8 weeks it sold 2 Million Units so its safe to assume the average price is 38 pounds/55 Dollar/55 Euro/5500 Yen.

The slightly higher price from the beginnig counters the lower price from the end by far since the most units are sold in the first 8 weeks until now.

Uk is the cheapest market for games in Europe you cant take your cheapest price and assume everyone pays that much. In Norway and Australia its even more expensive.

Its a Sony game so no royalties for BR and no royalties for Sony. Uncharted 2 is highly profitable a Sony game is profitable with a lot less units sold.

My calculation seems was not correct though since I underestimated the share for retailers. But nothing changes. And Uncharted 2 has great legs. If it has similar legs like Uncharted 1 it can top out at 4 or even 5 Million Units. The game would be damn profitable.

last time I chek third party developers get around 18-20 dollars per copies sold so
2800000*18=50400000-20000000(for production)-20000000(for ad)=10400000$

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.
