of course they have, why else do you think they only want 2.5 million sales, they already calculated what they needed to have a nice profit, to be able to make another one, plus don't forget the dlc and the drake comics, that will bring in money.

If 2.5M of those sales brought in about 30$ on average then that's 75M$ revenue. The game cost 20M to develop and I doubt they paid more than $20M dollars in marketting if SONY's entire Eu Christmas marketing budget was $115M [Think that was the number that was stated].

I'm certain they made a healthy profit.

well, games cost 60 dollars plus tax in the US, taking that into account 60x2,700,000=162,000,000 So yes, they made a huge profit. I know that the game retailers get some of the money also etc etc. But theres no way in hell they didn't make a profit.

I can't imagine how it didn't make a profit. Do we know the budget was $20m? Most of the engine work was already done and surely they reused a few assets. I know the environments are different, but they probably had a few common textures and models.



Ofcourse it has profited. If a Game wouldnt profit with 2-3 Million sold almost NO game would profit.

Most of the 360/Ps3 games profit. If not they wouldnt be produced anymore.

If Uncharted 2 with just 20 Million costs and 2-3 Million sales not profited. So which game profited then ?

Has a game to sell 5 Million to profit ? No it hasnt thats why we see sequels to games which havent even sold 1 Million. If the buisness would really be like that that 90% of the games have no profit they wouldnt produce HD games.


They are companys everything what they are looking for is MONEY. 90% of the games make profit I would guess even more then 90%. Look at Demon Souls they havent even sold 700k but they wont release it in Europe so actually they are satisfied with the sales. Or Dead Space 2 sold not even 1 Million on PS3. But still they produce a second part. How many games are there on PS3 with sales under 1 Million and getting sequels ? Why the hell shouldnt a 20 Million game not profit after almost 3 Million sales. lets recount it

Uncharted 2 has sold about 2.8 Million yet which is good. Ok lets assume 60 Dollar for one game.

60*2.8 Mln= 168 Million Dollar
50*2,8 Mln= 140 Million Dollar.

Uncharted 2 was slightly above average production costs lets say 3-6 Million Advertising and 22 Million Development Costs and 2 Dollar for stores its a Sony game so no Fees to Sony. And 50 Cent Shipment/Package. Ok 2,50 per Copy*2.8 Mln = 7 Mln.

35 Million total Costs for Uncharted 2. -168 Mln= 133 Million PROFIT. With 140 Million Dollar its still 105 Million profit.

Uncharted 2 is highly profitable. lets say they just sold 1 Million they would be still profitable. 50 Million-35 Million. Ok know we act like it wasnt from Sony and it wouldnt have advertisment but just 500k sales. Plus Dev costs are a little lower. Ok 18 Mln Dev Costs. 500k sold*50 Dollar= 25 Mln

500k*5 Dollar (2,50 for Sony+2,50 for shop and package/shipment)= 2.5 mln. Lets assume 500k extra for Internet advertisment.

21 Million Dollar-25 Million Dollar= 4 Million Dollar for a random title with just Internet advertisment. And just 500k sales. Thats also the reason why Sony is not publishing Demon Souls in Europe yet. They dont need to publish it there if they would made a loss they would publish it there definetly.

Lair sold just 300k so no wonder they didnt profited especially if costs where to high.

But most games profit and games like Uncharted definetly. Most HD games do profit thats why the 3rd party developers dont complain about the HD Consoles.

If Uncharted 2 wouldnt have profited ages ago there wouldnt be any PS3 or 360 games because it would be financial suicide to develop them. And why this question about an high selling game which is considered as cheap. But not the other hundreds of Titles which sold under 1 Million. why do we have games on HD consoles ? Heck even if Uncharted 2 would costs over 100 Million it would still profit. But then almost every HD game would make giant loses and the companys would know that if they produce the game they will lose definetly 50 Million or more. If 3 Million would be the point where most games break even we would hae a handful of games.






Uncharted 2 has actually sold 3 million, also the first has sold 3 milllion, They have made some nice profits . Its very low for how good of a game it is, but 2010 it will continue to put up some eally good numbers
