Forums - Nintendo Discussion - New Monster Hunter 3 trailer

I smell boring gameplay. Never played any MH game before but every video I've seen, including this one, shows something that looks like uninspired action fights against many different beasts, with the player always swinging their sword several times while trying to escape the counterattacks. Is there more to the fights, or do I just have to suffer through them for something better that the game has to offer? And why don't they ever show that special something in the videos? The graphics look amazing but I don't really care if the gameplay is not fun.

I would actually like to buy the game in that Classic Sontroller Pro & Wii Speak Pack, but I don't want a boring game to come with those things. Someone PLEASE explain why should I be interested in this game. I really want to be, I hear the franchise is big in Japan. But why is that?

I can't say whether the game will bore you or not, but the way you described the game could be used to describe almost any game type  FPSs' - you move, shoot, move, shoot. Music games - you play a song, then another, then another. Etc.

I haven't played Monster Hunter myself yet, but obviously every monster bahaves very differently, and (as I understood it) when you kill a monster, you get to upgrade/change your weapon using monster body parts or something like that. Plus you can hunt together with other people, something that sounds really great to me (but may not interest you).

Plus- it's supposed to be quite hard, so there's the satisfaction of overcoming difficulty.

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

Monster Hunter 3 just seems to have all the aspects of games that I like; action, epic in nature, in depth customization, sense of progression and accomplishment. I got a feeling I'm going to have a lot of fun with this game.

I've played freedom 2 for quite some time and there is a lot more than just hitting things.

The game actualy features weapons that behave differently, including projectile weapons that must be aimed in first person view and different weapons have very very pronounced strengths and weakness

second the action requires the "hunting" aspect, you have to use things like traps, baits, and tags to catch the prey your looking for

third the action requires quite a bit of preparation and resource management go in without enough supplies, the wrong supplies, or improperly dressed and the hunt becomes a lot harder or impossible

there are also non hunting aspects in the mission such as gathering nessecary materials

outside of the action there's the resources game in which you have to do things such as maintain supply like a mine and a farm.

the online wii tri has appeal in that the game is brutally difficult alone  but hunting in a group allows for players to arrange themselves to cover each others weaknesses

Oh btw, Gametrailers are saying that NOTHING is coming out on Wii in the first half of this year.

The thing that really pisses me off is that Capcom don't seem to give a fuck about this lack of enthusiasm. THat or they just have too much invested in their HD projects to care about the (clearly) cheaper investments.

What the hell?  Gametrailers didn't notice No More Heroes 2 and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom both coming out on the same day in January?  That's like 2 love letters to hardcore gamers right there.

They had reviews up for both games the day they came out.

Maybe megaman79 is talking about Invisible Walls or some stupid show like that. Ya know, the crap no one cares about.

GT rated Kellog's Vs. Capcom: New Age of Breakfast a 9 out of 10 and NMH2 an 8.2 out of 10.

well i have a health problem and im so watching this trailer lol

Maybe every game does this to some some or certain people, but this game may end up making you cuss cuz of some frustrating aspects in the hunt (like trying to capture a dragon and then you get paralyzed by some small creature [dang mosquitos or whatever]). So prepare for that especially when wii speak is connected. I've so far managed to control my cursing habit due to self bible reading, but this game just might end up breaking that for someone like me who's played all the MH's available in America. : )

Waiting...waiting...waiting...waiting patiently for MH3 : p
