Best looking console game

Haha I see you're trying to start a flame war but most rational people understand that there will likely never be a game on 360 that looks as good as Uncharted 2 or Killzone 2.

If you say so.

Just my opinion, but overall Gears 2 is above ME2 in graphics terms.

About the game... I agree, ME2 is better,

I've always found Gears of War 1 and 2 to be completely awful looking games. Techniqually impressive, but not something I want to look at. Just plain ugly.

I do appreciate that this isn't an opinion I share with the majority, but I still cringe every time someone brings that game up as an example of a good looking game.

Its entirely subjective what you class as best looking so you're entitled to that opinion!  I happen to think the best looking game this generation is Bioshock, technically its not as strong as other titles mentioned here but from a purely artistic point of view it blows all other games mentioned in here out of the water for me.

Gears I do like the look of, but it is very monotone so not for everyone.  Uncharted 2 is simply beautiful but isn't a big stretch of the imagination all the time like Bioshock.  Killzone 2 is grey, not a fan of grey hence why its not a great looking game to me even if technically it is incredible in places.  Mass Effect 2 I cannot judge yet as I've not played it but it will have to be very imaginative to top my favourite.

I was playing it on my 24" Full HD monitor. It averages something like 59.6 FPS with Vsync on. Its a very good looking, very well optimised game.

the pc version is very well optimized, too.

i usually underclock my radeon 4870 for 2d and i didn't make a full clock (900mhz ram, 750gpu) profile for ME2 and forgot to enable it by hand before staring it the first time.... playing with maxed settings at 1280x1024 with my clocks at 200/200mhz (!) without problems.

Its the best game on the console (imo) but not the best looking.

It looks great and runs great, but it also shows that the 360s potential has been fully realized. Great game though, I have been totally cracked out playing it; took days of of work and missed a couple classes last week.

How does it show that the 360's potential has been realized.......games like alan wake and SC:C disagree.

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

You forgot Gears 3, ME3 and Rage. I know we haven't seen any fotage from the first 2 but we know they gonna look better. Heck Gears 2 looks better imo.

I haven't played it, but the best looking game I've played on my 360 is Forza 3. Of course, it's a racing game, so take it with a grain of salt. Outside of that is Gears 2 and Assassin's Creed II.

When it's all said and done, I think Gears 3 will be the best looking game on the platform, though Alan Wake and Splinter Cell look awesome as well.

That explains why the HD 5870 at 850Mhz completely creamed the game!
