Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony on 3rd party exclusivity

This is an interesting comment and is a kind of hint of the future of thrid party titles.

"One thing to remember, nothing is ever exclusive. Things get wrapped up for a period of time for a large amount of money and if it's a strategic decision by competition to do that then we have to live with that."

"Obviously, what we have to do is make sure that our business plan is adhered to and we have the amount of money to invest in games rather than investing in stopping other people making games and progressing. So I would much rather that we were investing money into making sure that we've got great R&D and we start producing games like LittleBigPlanet, rather than paying other people a huge amount of money to stop people playing their product."

-What and who could they be reffering to in the last comment?

Hypocrit, it's exactly the same, except Sony give the money before hand rather than after.

I must have imagined Sony buying the publishing rights and timed-exclusivity period for Ghostbusters.

I don't mind. It has worked out for me this generation.

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

Haha

Microsoft relies on it way too much. Shows the inadequacy of their first party. Sony has done it in the past too, but it was only for key games like the GTA series on PS2.

Sony? Ghostbusters? That never happened, nope...never.
Though then again, once in a while is more acceptable than a dime a dozen...yay or nay?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

I agree that it may sound a tad hypercritical, but i am actually glad this was said. There PR seems to be lacking lately and Greenburg has been running his mouth for the last while now. Good for Sony for firing one back at them.

This wont end well I tell you, but I agree with their strategy tho build your own IP's instead paying for others to keep it exclusive for a while.
